How about getting rid of Trump and Musk first? That will help Zelensky.

I’m writing this on Saturday morning, and Ukrainian on Ali Velshi’s show asked “where are the nuclear weapons that we gave up in 1994?” I think that’s an excellent question.

This does not seem to me to be the right question, but rather: Why does a country that offered help without compensation now ask for 4 times more than it gave? It is a horrible usury mixed with blackmail, arrogance and abuse, taking advantage of the situation in Ukraine. Ugly and evil.

What’s the difference between Russia trying to take over to obtain said minerals or the US using coercion to take said minerals? Either way, Ukraine should not be forced to give up their resources because another bully nation wants them for themselves.

If Zelensky gets what he wants, then Ukraine will belong to Ukrainians. That sounds quite fair to me

Gotta love it when the people I met who “don’t do politics” wake up to discover that indeed - as I told them then - that politics has done them, and their children. I hit so many brick walls and pushback just trying to get people to get engaged in truth. SMH.

My work recently put out a post, "No talking about politics "and I want to yell it from the rooftops. People wake up and pay attention to what's happening to our country.

As someone whose family lived under that communist utopia you seem to m think existed - it was not utopia -it was corrupt in the extreme. And Putin isn’t even offering that. Wake up. Americans had it so good. You don’t even know what hell your about to live through.

Exactly!
No country. None. Not even the US can rely on the US to defend anything of decency, morality, or democracy.
Every country must consider the US a threat & their attempts to take Ukraine’s future wealth- leaving them weak to future attack - is a deliberate plan, not just transactional.

The theory is that the US would actually fight for minerals(money) but not worthless things like democracy, people or values. Same logic Trump uses to try to annex Canada, Greenland etc.
Problem is Trump is though in words only, but weak irl, so he would just fold to Russia when they return.

Once he’s gone… when?
He thinks he’ll get voted in again in 2028

He added 3 judges last time. 🤬 Once he’s gone that court needs to be packed to balance it out. The court has been tearing everything else down too.

He's only immune from impeachment because your Supremacist Court voted to give him absolute impunity to do whatever the hell he wants.
comment in response to

Not only is he gonna extort him, AGAIN, but he's doing to do it in his official capacity as POTUS, so he's immune from impeachment this time around. 😳🤯🤬

Umm… he just wants his country to stop being invaded? He has to say he’ll give up mineral rights to do that? What has society become when people think it’s a good idea to strong arm a country like that? Shame on everyone that insist this “deal” be made.

There are far too few people who bother to go back and learn what actually happened that brought all of this to fruition. From the 2013 discovery of vast natural fields in Crimea and Donbas, to the lease on Sevastopol.
All of this started under Bush Sr as the USSR fell

I watched as Zelensky begged us to help before all this started. I saw the fear and desperation on his face as he spoke in impassioned voice pleading with tRump to help before Biden came in. The quid pro quo tRump demanded sickened me. He is so strong 💪. I fear for both of our nations right now.

So right. He’s also humiliating Americans for voting him out in 2020. Punishing us by destroying our cherished constitutional rights.

I think Trump gets very upset when people refuse his deals.
He wants them humiliated.
It's clear he's offering to rob their house before the Russian mob burns it to the ground, but he still can't stand rejection.
comment in response to

He doesn't expect him to sign i think, the deal is designed to be awful so he can say "oh I tried, but he refused, so let Russia have them"

And those same minerals are currently being mined in America Brazil, Japan and Canada. (Except for Titanium Canada currently doesn’t ) so why now this sudden interest in the Ukrainian deposits? Maybe ask POTUS Musk.

Its just another stupid parlor trick for Trump to save face for abandoning Ukraine and claim a win. The chances of anything tangible materializing are slim.

Thank you for mentioning this. If the US lets Ukraine lose or bleeds them dry, no country will want to deal with the US, and they will all have every incentive to acquire nukes.
comment in response to

Let me explain why Ukraine does not owe the US one fucking cent: we convinced them to give up their nukes in exchange for a guarantee of protection by the US. Full fucking stop, this is not a fucking investment opportunity you fucking piece of shit

Putin puppet, come to mind. I'm hardly surprised. He leans into the efficiency of authoritarians, does whatever he wants, and pushes everyone else out of the way. As Elon summarized to the Republican party, fall in line or be primaried. Welcome to Citizens United in its full glory.

The timeline has nothing to do with it.
The US is trying to take advantage of a country currently holding off Russia's expansion into Europe.
Trump and Putin are clearly planning this together.

The most worrying/sinister aspect of it for me is the (alleged) threat to withdraw Ukraine’s use of Starlink if they don’t capitulate.

Viewing everything in terms of $ created this nightmare the rest of us have to live in. We’re all being sacrificed on the altar of greed.
And by the way, it’s over, China already won. Denial is propagandized bias. Personally, I’m grateful someone in the world takes climate change seriously.

The problem for Trump and his ilk is that Ukraine doesn’t appear to be "the weaker." They’re actually winning. Or were until our stupid country allowed the orange traitor to run again despite 1/6.

That world includes the Oligarch class, a bunch of opportunists! Leveraging every possible position for profit. Morality, ethics, humanity and respect for the law be damned. The Oligarchy (looking at all these greedy and destructive billionaires) should not exist. THEY are the parasite class.

Better yet, he could force Russia to pay for rebuilding Ukraine, and to give up the territory they took in the 2014 attack.

If Zelensky succeeds, American companies and the U.S. government stand to benefit the most from Ukraine's mineral resources.

All Dems can claim the legacy of John Lewis, Fannie Lou Hamer, Barbara Mikulski, Patricia Roberts Harris, and Dolores Huerta.
Firebrands today include Greg Casar, Jasmine Crockett, AOC, Max Frost, & David Hogg. All are active in this fight. Leaders need to do more. Keep demanding!

Making a deal with someone who’s famous for breaking promises? That’s like trusting a magician with your wallet. Zelensky is stuck between a rock and a hard place, while Trump is busy rewriting history. If the U.S. survives this Trump era, we might need a new map to find its place in the world.
