It strikes me as a real sign of out-of-control rhetorical inflation when the benign Biden administration is being characterized with the sort of adjectives once used to describe, say, the government of Pol Pot.

The more videos I make, the more I realize that the cradle of American culture is Pennsylvania and Ohio. I should make a video where I go to one of them (or both) and talk about just how much of our modern way of life they created.

David Pakman, his show is really well done. He's both entertaining to listen to, and quite insightful. I don't think I could do what he does. Has he done any particularly good interviews?

Here's a new cartoon I drew:

Ah, so that’s where he got the idea

I feel like “appeared in good spirits” is just PR spin for “dying.”

Just stumbled upon one of Gelnn Beck's novels (!?). Quite the title.

“Woke right” might be a somewhat confusing term, but there are definitely some right-wingers out there who get triggered as badly as any lefty snowflake the second you say something even mildly critical of Trump.

The fact that Mark Carney’s popularity is based primarily on the fact that he’s making big gains with NDP voters is kinda weird ideologically, since if anything he’s running to the right of Trudeau.

Since the fall of the Soviet Union, there have only been four Russian foreign ministers. Since the death of Stalin, there have only been eight.

Hearing lots of conflicting things about this Newcastle upon Tyne place...

This very euphemistic language makes me think the Pope’s situation is not good.

i am 100% of the belief that simply forcing take-writers to answer the question "who specifically said this and why are they significant" would result in substantially fewer bad takes circulating in the world

New vid posted! youtu.be/y0o6glRLNxc?...

I just listened to that "pina coladas" song because it was in my head. Never listened to the lyrics before. This is a pretty messed up song about a guy trying to cheat on his wife with a personal ad but his wife sees it and it winds up being okay in the end and they all have a good laugh???

Trump’s administration has deeply fucked up Canadian politics. I care so much about Canada-US relations and he has done so much damage to something that should be the easiest thing in the world to manage competently.

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

The Bulwark makes the best commentary videos about American politics. Subscribe to their channel, they’re almost at a million subs! youtube.com/@bulwarkmedi...

If you don't have a date for Valentine's Day, watch a horror movie so you don't feel so alone.

Buying a subscription to newspapers dot com is one of the best things I ever did for my channel. It is a research tool of endless value. Anyone who makes educational YouTube videos or any other content based around fact-based knowledge must simply must use this site.

it is beyond clear that for many americans trump is a blank slate who stands for whatever they personally want

This is such a good column. “All I see is one section of the educated elite going after another section of the educated elite. This is like a civil war in a fancy prep school in which the sleazy kids are going after the pretentious kids.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/o...

Another proud alumni

I find it both creepy and reductive when people trying to boost the idea of families exclusively refer to children as “babies.” Babies are such a tiny part of parenthood. Most of being a mom or dad is spent in adult-to-adult grownup relationships, but that’s apparently less enticing.

Pretty chilling words from @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social about what shutting down USAID means for the great cause of his life: fighting tuberculosis.

Every so often I’ll do a video about famous/infamous people from different countries. And it’s always a bit shocking to see in the comments how many people don’t accept that immigrants ever become citizens of their new countries. “Um, Ayn Rand was Russian not American,” etc.

New video! Who was the worst Canadian that ever lived? www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wS8...

It’s weird to see the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development claiming to be using his office to carry out the will of Christ.

I don't know if it's because I'm successful or what, but I just can't relate to all these principled conservative intellectual-types who have "anti-wokeness" at the core of their ideological worldview—to the point where they think Trump vs Kamala is a tough choice just because she seems more woke.

Sometimes places the Europeans named "New this-or-that" are located in the weirdest parts of the world. For instance, "New Ireland" is a state in Papua New Guinea.

My pal @timmiller.bsky.social asked a provocative but interesting question on one of his podcasts the other day: when, in recent history, has a government gained popularity for DOING something? Can you think of an example where a leader did a thing, people liked it, and he became more popular?

Great talk with @jj-mccullough.bsky.social talking America and inventing PISS politics! youtu.be/lIdXYKZuc0s
