"The crowd again started shouting “tax Elon,” “tax the wealthy,” “tax the rich” and “tax the billionaires.” " www.lagrandeobserver.com/news/local/r...

When taking actions late on a Friday night, a government sends a message its trying to pull one over on the public and the media, that it is hiding something or doing something it believes it should not do or will be seen as controversial. That is certainly true in this case.

I suspect we won’t be seeing many more town halls with elected Republicans.

Bullshit.

There is a wave of anger building across the entire country. People are already becoming fed up with Trump and Musk. These algorithms can try to hide it all they want, but they won’t be able to avoid reality for long.

it's really saying something that this is how an apparent friend explains Elon's goals www.vanityfair.com/news/story/e...

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.

Ukraine was warned it faced an imminent shutdown of Elon Musk’s vital Starlink satellite internet system unless it signed the extortion deal on rare earth minerals, Reuters reports.

I’m shocked.

the chinese have no interest in a meeting, trump is making this up www.cnbc.com/2025/02/20/t...

I'm about to drop a piece at The Atlantic on this Pentagon purge. As I warned, Trump is capturing Justice, Intelligence, the military. This is praetorianism, pure and simple.

BREAKING: the stock market. Make America great again!

The anti-DOGE backlash is showing up in GOP reps districts talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/infle... via @TPM

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Never thought we'd see someone wrest away from J. Edgar Hoover the title of Biggest Asshole to Ever Lead the FBI, but looks like we did it!

This letter is a remarkable combination of stupid and ominous.

"your health care coverage for Elon’s tax cuts. That is the fundamental fulcrum on which the next two years of American history — and quite possibly many years into the future — will turn." talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/infle...

lol once a cable news host, always a cable news host. leaning into something he actually has experience doing.

So DOGE's 'wall of receipts' is riddled with errors, falsehoods and distortions. big shock. about what you'd expect from 6 tech bros dragged over from the strip club www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

They want war crimes. I do not know why the media will not say this. They say they want war crimes. Heggy got his job because he supported war crimes on Fox News. They think it is good to hunt children for sport.

Replacing all the JAGs seems…not good.

It's hard to call out specific affronts. But: Nauseating for Trump, Musk, unqualified Hegseth to target GEN CQ Brown. —Fighter squad command, multiple cmnd posts; —130 hrs combat-fighter, 3000 flying hrs; —Multiple grad degrees; —AF chief of staff, Chmn JCS www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

So the President has abruptly fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Charles Q. Brown Jr., and is replacing him with a retired three star general, Dan Caine. This portends a future grave crisis as the President attempts to restructure the military into one personally loyal to him.

Another good battle study by John Spencer. His work is always worth reading and learning from. I know I do! @WarInstitute #Ukraine mwi.westpoint.edu/the-battle-o...

Actual Q: Back in 2017, Susan Collins cast a vote that made a difference, saving Obamacare. Since then, has she ever cast a "concerned" vote that *made a difference? Eg she voted No on Patel, fully aware that her vote wouldn't matter. Any case since 2017 of her bucking MAGA when it counted?

None of this has anything to do with effectiveness, or “lethality,” or promoting “warfighters," or any other buzzwords. It is praetorianism, plain and simple, and it is an assault on our military and our democracy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

“Hegseth suggested that Brown, who is Black, may have risen to his position through racial preferences. ‘We'll never know,’ he wrote, in a classic just-asking-questions dodge. But Trump should know. He’s the president who nominated Brown to be Air Force Chief of Staff in 2020.”

If you look at all the firings across the government over the last two weeks it's frequently been taken as a given that any black or woman official or officer is either a DEI hire or supports DEI and is summarily fired on that basis. Seems like the same model here.

“Many workers say they live in a constant state of fear, unable to trust their colleagues, unable to speak freely, reflexively engaging in self-censorship even on matters they view as crucial to national security.” Fed gov used to be a great place to work, www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...

Powerful. Tomorrow’s front page of the most influential weekly publication in Germany. “BETRAYED. First Zelensky, Soon Us? The radical departure of the US from its allies.”

firing for "too much DEI" is plainly firing a woman and a Black man on the presumption only white men can be qualified. this is disgusting biogtry.

Beware Trump especially on Friday evenings, notorious slow news time to undertake mischief with minimal scrutiny www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

So the President not only fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He also fired the top JAGs at the Army, Navy and Air Force. Those are the lead people who determine what is a legal order and what is not. So if you're planning to do things that are illegal they're the most obvious obstacle.

This is quite significant in many ways: the overt thuggery, Trump’s barely suppressed fury at being contradicted by a woman, the governor’s standing up, the total abandonment of the pretense of federalism, the continuing use of trans Americans the way Hitler used Jews.

Overflow angry crowd for town hall with Glenn Grothman in Oshkosh this morning ... www.wpr.org/news/glenn-g...

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

Better not call it a “vaccine” or it might not get approved. Maybe market it as a recreational drug.

"We are getting lots of calls about Musk and lots of calls thanking me for sticking up for Ukraine..." www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

www.wsj.com/opinion/rfk-...

Well that’s bizarre

Very basic question: DOGE is made up a few dozen people most of whom aren't drawing salaries. What could $40 million be going toward? Could it be data storage outside government servers? talkingpointsmemo.com/news/doge-co...

This is in fact a real picture and it will work nicely in the ads next year about the military families devastated by Elon's illegal firings.

This is a good moment to thank the federalism gods. States choose their election technology, not the federal government. In blue states the read out will be GTFO Elon. And given how toxic he’s getting probably in a lot of red states too.

Trump pardoned the sentence of arguably the single biggest drug trafficker in American history on his second day in office!

Let me say this again: walk away. Stop attending their briefings and tell viewers and readers why. Explain how press accessibility is being curtailed. Stop playing their game.
