But we should not act like traffic cops - “triaging” illness and complaint to sub specialties. We need to be comprehensive, inclusive, broad training and practice. It is what the original intent of family medicine was, not what what has been lately - feeders of specialties.

In the US, Pharm D’s are imbedded with family docs in community clinics to help in all sorts of ways to improve care. There are fellowships and internships for Pharm D programs to focus on primary care — very popular.

First of all, describe the current use of POCUS that we know of- what is it being used for in managing health problems. How does it affect diagnosis and management of these problems relative to cost, promptness of care, patient outcomes and unanticipated costs. Start there.

This is happening in many community college campuses all over the US. Students learning the trades are making useful homes for unhorsed families and individuals.

We need studies of ultrasound looking at patient outcomes, not just whether it can be done. The enthusiasm is high but the evidence is not there yet. How does it affect diagnostic accuracy, cost, unintended consequences, etc.
