The public really needs to understand this. Every university system in the world rests on public funding, there has never been an alternative model at any time in history. We have universities for literally the same reason that we have roads and armies.

YUP. The 4th is my district, and I actually voted for Newhouse... only because his opponent was full-on MAGA.

More of this! We all know this won’t pass but this is a line in the sand and a great talking point. /cc @shasti.bsky.social

In the atrium of the ship. I'm really proud to be part of this cruise.

If there was only a way to prevent measles...🤔

Seattle Mayor Harrell: “We know that our current president surrounds himself by some of the smartest innovators around...When we drop names like Andreessen or Peter Thiel or David Sacks or Elon Musk, these are smart innovators.” 🤬🤬🤬🤬

You meant auto MAKERS, you absolute dumbass

I'm kinda curious how this would actually work. Just the companies themselves? Subsidiaries? Suppliers?

Patagonia Day 6 — Finale! Chilano to Centro! It was our last day, such great memories. ❤️ The most amazing time with @jjhuff.bsky.social, David, Joelle, Rick and Bow! Planning our next adventure. 🤙🏼

Patagonia Day 5! Paine Grande up to Mirador las Torres (the towers) and back down to Chilano. Woke up to a spectacular sunrise. We decided to do the towers during the day since the forecast for the planned sunrise run the following day was rain and cloudy.

If your rep is republican and is too afraid to hold a town hall... reach out to a Democrat and ask them to hold a town hall in your area instead. Seriously.

Patagonia Day 4! Refugio Grey up to Britannica and back down to Paine Grande. It was a killer and rewarding day!

Whoa.. Vivian Graubard over there on LinkedIn, bringing the whole fucking receipt book. Turns out those whiz kid DOGE "geniuses" couldn't pass the basic, entry level tech screen it takes to get hired at 18F. They didn't even meet the bar to *get an interview*.

This was an amazing day!

"we came to the government to fix things. And we’re not done with this work yet. More to come." 18f.org

They complain about government handouts until the government is handing it to them.

Patagonia Day 2! Dickson to Perros. All that pass thru the O Trek must stay at Perros, as the conditions beyond Perros are unpredictable. Perros has a barebones facility. No hot water, no food, hardly any electricity. But I had a good time just hanging with folks, playing cards and talking! 😳

Patagonia Day 1! I didn’t know what to expect running this day, but it was beautiful and a magical experience. It’s been a while since I posted. I’ve been out of commission from running the last couple weeks. I’m on the mend and I hope to be back at it soon! ❤️

I believe "spineless" is the word you're looking for. Although, we knew that already, didn't we?

I refuse to vote for yet another billionaire who will work with Trump & Elon Musk to try and dismantle the Department of Education. Republicans are pushing a pro-billionaire, anti-public school agenda. I voted NO to advance Linda McMahon's confirmation.

Triathlon was fun, but I'm so glad I switched to trail/ultra running. A "run away hydration system" is skipping the filter and drinking straight from the creek. www.triathlete.com/culture/news...

Engineers like to think we always make rational, data grounded decisions. The reality is way more nuanced. Extract from Platform Engineering from @skamille.themanagerswrath.com and @inowland.bsky.social

🤬🤬🤬

Flight crews in and out of SEA/PDX (and satellite airports) over the last 12hrs are definitely earning their stripes.

More gut-wrenching data that shows what happens when Republicans ban abortion: more women hospitalized for PREVENTABLE conditions, more women miscarrying, more women dead. Republicans want to control women's lives and bodies—no matter the consequences. www.propublica.org/article/texa...

USDS was *actually* doing the work of improving computer systems at the government. Had been for years. Successfully. www.wired.com/story/doge-e...

I used a Hyperlite Aero 28 for my recent trip to Torres del Paine along with hip pockets from their Contour line. Their support bot said they were compatible 🤔. Then my belt fell off at mile 60. The clips on the belt sawed through the attachment loops on the pack.

I know a couple of controllers. You know what they complain about? Low pay. Mandatory overtime (1 day off a week). Rotating schedules.

Santiago's Museum of Memory & Human Rights documents the abuses under the military junta in the late 70s and 80s. It hits hard. Especially given what's happening in the US currently. #dontlookaway

I don't need to start a cult to suggest that. Also, I have neither the time nor inclination to start a cult. It's a lot of work, the people you attract would likely be better off with therapy instead, and being idolized gets boring and weird. It's better just to have actual friends.

Ugh, log cabin republicans.... so much entitlement.

Day 6: 3mi out to Central. Yeah, this was an amazing trip. Distance: 87mi Gain: 22k ft. Moving time: 28hrs

Day 5: Paine Grande to Chileno and Las Torres. OMG the people! We made it to Chileno right before the trail to the viewpoint closed, which was great since the weather for our sunrise opportunity the following day wasn't great. An absolutely stunning view.

Day 4: Grey to Briticano to Paine Grande. Long day, but the views: 😍🏔️

Day 3: aaaand suspension bridges

Day 3: Glacier Grey: Holly smokes!

Day 3: nailed the weather window and had no wind at John Gardner pass, where we got our first peak of Glacier Grey

Dickson to Los Perros started out a little wet and windy. The sun came out, but the wind definitely stayed.

Well, this is pretty great.

I found a Miladon!

A little farther South than normal...
