The Knicks reached out to the Pelicans for permission to speak with assistant coach James Borrego for their head coach vacancy and New Orleans has granted permission, multiple league sources tell me, @fredkatz.bsky.social and Will G. Borrego will be fourth known person to interview with NYK.

The NBA Draft starts tonight, but for now the Knicks don’t make a selection until the second round tomorrow. Took a look at five names who could be in their range at No. 50: www.nytimes.com/athletic/643...

Knicks head coach search: Jenkins, Brown had good interviews. As New York continues to do due diligence, could another former head coach enter the conversation? Update: www.nytimes.com/athletic/644...

As we await the blue and orange smoke to float out of MSG, let’s turn our attention for a second to the 2025 NBA Draft, which is next week. Looked at five guys the Knicks could potentially get at No. 50: www.nytimes.com/athletic/643...

Going to do a Knicks mailbag for early this week. Send any questions you might have.

The Knicks will have formal interviews with two coaches next week, per league sources. That and more on what I know about the Knicks’ coaching search here: www.nytimes.com/athletic/642...

Per league sources, Knicks know they’re the only vacancy right now, don’t feel the need to rush and that’s why you see them canvassing the league, seeing who is available and who isn’t. That might explain the noise the last few days.

Another thing to consider with Knicks-Mavs-Kidd: multiple reports say DAL officially denied permission. If somehow this turns into a mess and this isn’t the end, which I’m hearing it might not be, hard to see how the NBA doesn’t intervene with tampering stuff.

As reported on Monday, Knicks got denied permission to speak to Kidd as of this morning

Tom Thibodeau took out this ad in the NYT

Not very often does a trade work out well for both teams. Eight months after the KAT-Randle trade, the Knicks and Wolves enter that rare list. The results speaks for themselves. Story with the great @jonkrawczynski.bsky.social : www.nytimes.com/athletic/640...

Taking some time off after today. I’ll pop back up if news with Knicks coaching search warrants it. Have a piece coming tomorrow. Y’all be nice to each other.

Got together with @fredkatz.bsky.social and @mikevorkunov.bsky.social to put together a list of potential Knicks head coaching candidates to keep an eye on: www.nytimes.com/athletic/640...

Between 2012-2020, Knicks head coaches Mike Woodson, Derek Fisher, Kurt Rambis, Jeff Hornacek, David Fizdale and Mike Miller had a combined ... 238 wins. From 2020-2025, Tom Thibodeau had ... 226 wins. The grass isn't always greener. Column: www.nytimes.com/athletic/640...

If anyone reads the article, the point of showing the record isn’t to compare rosters. It’s to show that the guy helped build a culture in New York and, because of that, should have gotten another year to maximize a team that was put together 12 hours before training camp.

I’ll have stuff throughout the summer — draft, SL, FA/trades, etc. — but just wanted to say thanks to all who read and supported this season. After 7yrs covering the NBA, first in new city, new team. Wild 12 months. 10 of my favorite stories I wrote this season are on my feed.

The Knicks’ season ended in Game 6 of the ECF, but Game 1 will haunt a lot of people for a long time. Story on a missed opportunity but why I think Jalen Brunson will give New York another shot at this in the near future: www.nytimes.com/athletic/639...

On one hand, the Knicks made the ECF. A success. On the other, they had a core group that struggled to consistently click. Story with @FredKatz on which means more to New York decision-makers this summer: www.nytimes.com/athletic/639...

The Knicks' magical, franchise-reviving postseason run comes to an end in Game 6 of the ECF. They entertained. They did the impossible. It came to an end, but the Knicks left it all out there. Just didn't have enough left.

Thibs on what the message is after this: "There's disappointment because you fall short of what your goal is. Only one team achieves the goal." Said they need to look at it for what it is: Finished top 3 and this should be motivation to improve even further.

Haliburton lob to Toppin after a series of missed Knicks 3s. Now another turnover. That'll do it.

Knicks barely turned the ball over during the regular season. Had 16 turnovers in an elimination game -- with 4:20 left. Pacers shooting splits: 52/51/86 Knicks: 47/20/70

Nembhard 3 off a Siakam offensive rebound. Knicks down 19 with 4:20 left.

Pacers up 16. Knicks just can't get a stop.

Defensive lineup gets the Knicks' deficit down to single digits

Huge blunder there by the Knicks to end the 3rd. Came up empty on a 3-on-1 in transition after a McBride steal. Hart messed up the lob to KAT. Now New York goes into the fourth down 15. The Knicks won Game 3 in Indy being down 10 to end the third.

Knicks made 3s: 5 Toppin, McConnell and Bryant made 3s: 6

Oh, man. That's brutal. Hart stole the ball. McBride drilled a corner 3. But he stepped out of bounds.
