I'm pretty much in the same place, but some naïvely optimistic part of me still hopes for and strives to build something more beautiful.

There's a band from Connecticut that did Sea Shanties and folk songs called the Morgans. I have both their records and plan to order CDs from their website. I don't think they're on streaming services. They no longer tour. This video is them past their prime but it's all I could find

B-52s, the Roots, and Curtis Mayfield for me (with Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff close behind)

100%, I was thinking of him and Miguel Tejada in particular

I do not understand the Astros front office strategy, this feels too much like the mid 2000s when we were signing old guys left and right

It did put a smile on my face, but a few borderline unlistenable tracks put this at ⭐⭐⭐/5

I'm rewatching now, and it's pretty solid through the first five seasons. I'm on season six and it's getting insufferable. That said, I thought I wouldn't be able to rewatch it at all 🤷

You're not going to convince many nonvoters with that attitude, let me tell ya

I love 70s gospel, and Edwin Hawkins is surprisingly tricky to find because of "Oh Happy Day." It was worth $1 to see if it worked. Most other gospel artists from this time are always in the dollar bins or I can pay like $3-5 to get a great copy. Staples Sisters are another exception to that rule

Carlos Simon is here to talk about his piece!! Blurry pic because I'm in the nosebleed section (but it's secretly the best sound in the Hall)

TIL that the Electric Factory has been renamed the Franklin Music Hall, boooo. Loved that place (and its name) when I lived near Philly

It's not a real Philly soft pretzel unless you buy it from guy with a shopping cart. I will die on that hill.

I moved to Pittsburgh right as Doumit was breaking out. To be fair, he was pretty rough to watch catching...but not THAT bad

Fun follow up, that 2008 Pirates team had Jose Bautista on it right before he broke out
comment in response to post
Ah, yes, the Pirates would have been 4 wins better with...checks notes...Rod Barajas and his .249/.292/.410 line that year

One of the best parts of live music is hearing a solo where the soloist hits a "wrong" note and then they either recover creatively or the band adjusts, resulting in something mind-bending
