It's definitely a particular flavor, but the story is so well crafted, and for those who are into it, this gameplay is a rare treat.

This studio has 30 people. 30! That's it! Yeah, they've all got experience in the industry, but still!

I have found the Etrian Odyssey series much more my jam, though I admittedly would prefer a more western art direction, and there's definitely some rough edges in the first game the second one is doing better on so far.

I tried LoG2 after UFO 50 streams made me realize I might actually like a first-person grid dungeon crawler, and while I had fun, I did realize not having a real-time component was important to me, and also "these puzzles are great, but some of them REALLY need a DM framing the premise to work."

I am apparently developing a video game "type" and that type is "games that were controversial, panned, or under-hyped on release but actually were pretty great overall in the end". ME: Andromeda, Wayfinder, Banishers, Darksiders 3, Arkham Knight...

The good news is we've come so far. The bad news is we had so, so far to come. XD

Sad, but totally understandable. Thank you for looking out for your mental health!

Ok, I know this is memeing for goofs, but genuinely, if you haven't looked into Don't Nod's Banishers, it has some of the most interesting narrative choice work games have done recently in a non-indie/visual novel-adjacent context. They get so much out of Blame/Banish/Ascend as a framework.

I've watched the trailer! There's clear gameplay in there! They have the vague outlines of a story premise! But the deeper I try to dig the more I get a vague, off-putting sense that there's no substance here. Maybe I'm just too used to not checking out of games until they're post-launch? I dunno.

Why is this not selling me? On paper it's exactly the sort of game I'd love, but going through the website it feels... It feels like it's not trying to sell me on a game that exists, but on an idea of a game. Like I'm getting pitched an investing opportunity, not a story or a mechanic.

Superlatives never lead to short videos, Dan! You're too thorough for that! :P

Maybe that's just down to going back to a fairly linear timeline with a small enough group of follows that I can, actually, get to where I left off, but God I had forgotten how much I missed that.

It's that, when I decide I want to be done scrolling the feed... I leave. I don't keep scrolling because the algorithm has its hooks in me, I don't see one more just-interesting-enough-to-keep-me-here thing, I just... Click off. It's so refreshing.

XD Look, Thistle is almost literally a one to one replication of my wife in both interests AND personality, the convo on 914/915 (saying sorry too much) is a conversation we actually had when we were first getting to know each other! It's your own fault for having such perfect blorbos! :P

As someone who only just discovered DotL, boy it seems like I've missed some stuff, but I'm very hopeful you can get the store up in time for Christmas deliveries! I need something to mark my new favorite webcomic!
