Streaming services offering slow-paced, plot-free videos — of animals, scenery, gardens and babies — offer an alternative to traditional TV for people with dementia and their caregivers.

Jeffrey Goldberg thinking he was being pranked and then realizing he was actually just in the war plans group chat is such a good microcosm of how it feels to be alive right now, everything seems fake until you realize it’s actually real and incredibly stupid

All possible love to my Canadian friends and followers. I’m so sorry for what this administration has done to the relationship between our two countries. Probably best if you stay away for a while to see whether we can sort this out.

In general, I don't put a lot of weight on performative ceremonial political etiquette. But it is curious that Pierre Pollievre sent congratulations to Donald Trump on becoming President, but not to Mark Carney on becoming Prime Minister. Surely, such a clumsy misstep must be a greater message.

It takes a unique kind of genius to fuck up the US-Canada relationship.

Alina Habbard posted: NOTHING CAN STOP THIS MAN FROM FIGHTING FOR HIS COUNTRY. David Simon had a succinct 2-word response: “Bone spurs.”

The United States does not subsidize Canada. Trump is ‘The greatest liar in the history of the United States’ to use his favourite phrase.

Zod damn it. I have no particular love (or hate) for JT. But this brought a little tear to my eye.

Pass it on. #StandWithUkraine

What we focus our attention on shapes who we become. When we cultivate positivity in our consciousness, we transform not only our perspective but our very experience of life, creating a self-reinforcing cycle of optimism and contentment that radiates outward to those around us. Gurdeep.org

I brought my horses into the arena yesterday and just played with them for a little while. What a lovely spot when the snow is 4 feet high outside.

My brothers and sisters in lab coats: come to Canada.

Here's the speech if you haven't heard it. 13 minutes of your time. Share it with your American friends and neighbours, because they won't see it otherwise. Circulate it in Mexico and Denmark, France and the UK, Panama and Germany, Poland and Estonia, and especially -- especially -- Ukraine.

The deck is disappearing.

In 2014 Dutch scientists left a hamster wheel outside, to see if wild animals would use it like their domesticated counterparts. The answer: hell yes! 734 visits from wild mice - plus rats, shrews, slugs ("running" being subjective here) & even frogs and snails. The apparent reason: fun. Just fun.

It is a gorgeous sunny day here in Mono, -4C and windy. I am just drinking my coffee and then I will be out with the dogs and the tractor to clear snow. Everyone should own a tractor, they are infinitely useful and fun to drive.

Well, it will be a long wait at the UHN Toronto Western hospital while Gord gets his replacement implant for his deep brain stimulation, but I found a cozy spot with my iPad, wifi and a coffee.

I see the Democratic weather machine is doing great work again, forcing that inauguration inside. Well done, climate controllers.

Thanks to the Smith Report, history will forever record Trump as a criminal who tried to overturn a free and fair election. That is what our children and grandchildren will be taught if we keep our Republic.

I wish Bear would sleep in once in a while, he is up every day at 5am wanting to go out. You can’t say no to a Great Pyrenees - he will chew on the metal door handles, bark till your ear drums burst and leave claw marks on the door 6’ up.

I believe that Canada is the best country in the world to live in. I speak as a woman who has lived in the USA, Germany and Canada, and travelled to more than 25 countries. The USA in its own way is a great country but I will never agree to join it. Let’s just be neighbours.

While Trump is trolling Canada about annexing it, Canadians are in Los Angeles tonight dropping water on the Palisades fire. He’s a disgrace.

My response to Donald Trump’s efforts to block the Special Counsel from issuing his final report:

For Maths fans, 2025 is a square. 45² = 45 x 45 = 2025 Also, 9² x 5² = 2025 40² + 20² + 5² = 2025 My favourite? 1³+2³+3³+4³+5³+6³+7³+8³+9³ = 2025 #Mathematics #teaching #education

Now that I am retired and the horses are boarded out, I am experimenting with cooking vegan food. I bought a few great cookbooks that I had seen in the library first, then I had to source all the odd ingredients, & now I am trying the recipes. Home style Cooking, Bred, & Grain Power.

Betty finally understands the spin voice cue. She was a feral beach dog till she was 5, & is the most difficult animal I have ever trained. I have to capture most behaviours as she doesn’t like it when I come too close. So luring the spin doesn’t work. Sit, bow, spin and target is what she can do.

These two little Icelandic mares are so cute, they look like stuffed toys.

I’ve sent my 2 horses off to be boarded, someone else can spend hours everyday poo picking, feeding and hauling hay. Yesterday was the first day in 13 years that I didn’t step outside the house. It was pouring rain and I was happy to be in!

These two posts contain important facts about the Canadian economy that inoculate you from the brain-numbing, lying slogans that Poilievre insults Canadians with on a daily basis. Slogans are for stupid people.

I may complain about working outside in winter, but it really was pretty this morning.

We picked out our tree for the living room, my handyman Pete can cut it and put it up for us.

This is pretty funny.

It’s time to pick out 2 Christmas trees! Every spring the Township of Mono sells a variety of low cost seedlings. We plant 100 - 300 trees, that’s more than 2,000 since we moved here. We harvest a few for Xmas every year, for ourselves and family. I hate to cut them, but they are free trees for us.

Photos from my farm ❤️

I’ve left X for Bluesky, it seems saner here.
