Eh, not nice to assume. Again, the topic of s**de can very understandably be a touchy subject for many. It probably just set off an emotional trigger for them. In which case blocking for their mental health is a valid move.

The same goes the other way though. We can both tie our personal values/beliefs to these scenes until the cows go home. I am not here to convince you otherwise, just to give my own informed take on the matter.

I just generally have a distaste for painting children as fundamentally evil people deserving of what comes to them on the level we would adults, because every situation I’ve seen of that it’s just never that black and white.

At that point it’s not up to onlookers on if his apology was worth accepting, it’s solely up to the hurt party. And I think Midoriya accepting it is fully in character.

Or anything he truly believed in. Extremely hurtful, yes, but through the eyes and mouth of a child who just wasn’t used to being challenged like that. And the response to something like that for a kid often IS to go completely nuclear. I just don’t think he fully understood what he said back then—

I dunno man, I think my experiences in middle/high school may just be different, but that always surrounded me growing up. When you’re a kid you’re often just copying others to try to fit in. The way he goes about telling Deku to kys is so laughably absurd it didn’t come off like a genuine threat.

Him just understanding the full gravity of what he did and said, and how not okay it was, was enough for me. He just needed to very nakedly acknowledge what he did wrong, and have the humility to own up to it.

Valid tbh. Like I say I think I’m just desensitized to kids saying mean things without having a full grasp of the emotional weight of what they’re saying. Hell I’m sure *I’ve* said some really fucked up things around his age.

Also, again, he was a literal child. I’ve had lil shits his age do/say far worse shit to me on a regular basis so I guess it never phased me as much.
When he told Deku to kys I don’t think he even understood what the hell he was saying. It’s so outlandish it’s hard to even take seriously.

The major difference here is that Bakugo was like 14 when he was at his most toxic.
When it’s an adult you can fully admonish behavior like this, but kids are mean. That’s just kinda a fact of life.
Bakugo was simply at the age where his ethics were still developing.

For me yea. I like that they do treat it with the weight it deserves, not just “I realized I fucked up so I’m a good guy now”. The damage he’d done over the years still sticks, as do the consequences.
