These are the storms that make me sad that I don’t have a proper open area to place my anemometer. I know my neighborhood gets crazy gusts on the water north of Golden Gardens, but most homes just don’t have good siting options. 😢

And we all had flu shots around Halloween.

It hit previous Thursday night, the spikes were Friday night, fevers finally broke Monday. Alt Advil/Tylenol would get them down to 101s but kept spiking in between. Bad cough started Sat, *freaked* out 7yo cause he’s never had one. Lingering slight PND cough and fatigue.

We haven’t been sick since Jan ‘20 & all caught this thru N95/KN95s bc teacher wasn’t yet showing symptoms. Both 7 & 10yo had high fevers hitting 105 and 106 at night, crazy. Thank goodness the ol’ cold shower-icepacks-washcloth did the trick cause it sounds like there wasn’t room at Children’s.

It just started dumping around Golden Gardens but at 33 degrees/32 wet bulb. Will temps dip further to actually freeze it to the ground or will it be slush in the morning?

I’ve wondered that as well when they’re in an urban yard. I suppose the owner also owns the air rights above their house with fed restrictions at a certain point, but as long as there isn’t a HOA it should be fine? Neighbors might just not appreciate it as much as us 😆

Oh my gosh winter might finally make an appearance! It touched freezing one night in my yard, but it looks like we haven’t had a winter yet.

I wonder how their customers would react if they uttered that filth in front of them? I would hope their customers would leave, but would they care?

I just got a link from my mom to a Times of India article on it. That plus the fact that the pandemic is basically over for her made me bet on this. Thanks for confirming.

Louie’s in Ballard had them, then they shut down and a Fresh pickup building took its place. Many tears were shed. Years later we found a place on Aurora, but it abruptly flipped to a (bad) teriyaki joint. More tears shed. I think we just found a pretty close substitute, still delicious next day!

I grew up with it and love it, but I’m picky about the recipe. My grandma raised kids in the Midwest during the casserole era, then me, and it was one of her staples.

Funny, when we signed on our house it was the day the first US case was reported across the lake from us. We won’t be buying again this time, but we may finally be done remodeling 🫠

Oh my gosh just checked my weather station and it got down to 35 at 9:41am. Wasn't expecting that in our armpit microclimate by the water in NW Seattle. Guess I gotta get the last of my potted plants protected...

Would there be an official investigation into this failure, similar to the FAA and airplane crashes? If so would the findings be made public?
comment in response to post
I’d love to hear if he says the failure was due to the design, environmental factors, or a combination. I grew up with these high tension lines behind my house in the Midwest, and even though the crackling sound could sound scary as a kid, I never thought about them falling down 😬

I’m north of Ballard & our power was flickering about a half hour ago then went out twice. We never actually lose power during storms, so the wind must be decent out there. My Ting notifications said it affected 40ish nearby Ting customers, which is more localized than Tues night’s brownouts.

I had no idea! My mom works at a suburban Chicago public works, so I have to share this with her and the crew there.

I’ve now been here 21 years, have seen a lot of western WA, and Port Angeles is where I’d want to live if we moved. I instantly recognize your mom’s pics/videos in my feed and make me miss it. Still trying to make it there this winter (and maybe during a good storm!)

There’s one parked on Nickerson that we pass every day on the way to school, and I roll my eyes every time. When it changed to a blue color, I started rolling my eyes harder. My 6yo liked pictures of them online then lost interest after seeing it IRL 😆

We also saw that this morning. It was obvious my kids were born and raised here when one of them asked why the shovel looks broken. I don’t know if he’s ever seen one on the road to know how it works!

I'm just north of Ballard with a friend a couple miles further north, and this could actually be the case for us. I'll be interested to see if one or both of us get the higher wind gusts!

The question still remains: when are we going to get @NWSSeattle and the rest of our pals over here? Honestly they're who I'm waiting for so I can officially ditch the other place!

Happy it’s going down… but it’s still so high 😩 I know it’s not going down as long as things stay the same, but it still sucks. Thank you for your reports & analysis over the years. You’ve been invaluable, & I’m thankful that you’re still here helping us! (I’ll let folks know you’re here!)

Wx is what still tethers me to twitter, and once the conspiracy theories started flying after Helene I started really hoping that a migration out would finally happen! 🤞
