"he was a good player. a great one, even. but nobody. in the entire history of major league skrunking. had ever hit the double gibby before."
[beat]
[newspaper headline appears, "ERWIN HOLMES HITS DOUBLE GIBBY, AUDIENCE GOES WILD"]
"he had done it."

kids shows won't have plotlines about the protagonist's reputation being ruined because of bad sentence mixing anymore. it'll all be deepfakes. and that's sad

i think it's a reasonable addition though i hope this, the spell checker, the character counter, and autosaving is the extent to which microsoft plans to "modernize" notepad. adding a copilot button is pushing it for sure, would be like if they added an internet explorer sidebar to win95's notepad

for the features it *does* have, though, functionality is rock solid! no jank that i've encountered. the ui for staging files being a simple list of checkboxes, for example, is way better than what vscode has and a good middle ground between jetbrains-styled changelists and how git actually works

coming from jetbrains (gold standard for git integration), i was surprised with how well zed's worked on release. i mainly miss the option for a side-by-side view when viewing diffs/using the merge editor and how jetbrains could automatically handle a lot of merge conflicts (magic wand button ftw)
