There's no shortage of cover act bookings out West. This is from a random tile on one agency's Instagram account
It's always been this way of course but with the comparative dearth of bookings for original live music outside of the Inner West and CBD you have to wonder

78% of the live music events that we tracked take place in the Inner West or CBD. If you take out Sydney Olympic Park, that is over 80%. But of course, what we needed was no stadium event caps!
Just a bunch of political talking points to create some optics. Talk to some artists for a change.

Meanwhile:
• more artists are giving up their craft every week
• the rest are working three jobs
• there are still next to no small spaces for live music compared to two decades ago
• punter participation is radically down
• suburban live music by comparison to two decades ago is non-existent

And what about NFTs? Remember when those were going to transform the industry? What happened to those? Where are the use cases for crypto, apart from a place to hoard wealth on a speculative asset with no underlying value?
When did real value stop mattering? Why the fuck do we just chase hype?

Is it really so long since Facebook renamed themselves Meta, indicating their supposed wholesale gearshift to focusing on the Metaverse? Where's that got them? Billions poured into Oculus and Horizon Worlds with nothing to show for it — just a yawning black hole that keeps sucking more capital.

I don't care about share prices - that's a speculative indicator.
I don't care about capital investment - that's speculative too.
I care about meaningful impact, outcomes, things that show why we should be investing billions upon billions into energy guzzling vague-as-fuck cover-all abstractions.
