Don't you just hate it when your boss insists on micro managing everything...?

British Moto2 rider Jake Dixon is raffling off a helmet to raise funds for two children's cancer charities. Bid for something unique, and please share as widely as possible gvwhl.com/MXFDI

It's hard not to be jealous of Desmond when I pop downstairs in-between teams meetings to grab a coffee, and I see what important work he's been up to this afternoon...

Went back to Bempton Cliffs this evening to see if we could spot some more puffins, and we weren't disappointed! There were plenty on the cliffs, returning back from their day fishing out at Doggerland.

Alongside the adorable puffin, we also saw plenty of other seabirds this morning at Bempton, including these Gannets reacquainting themselves with each other after the Gannet on the left came in from the North Sea.

Currently in Bempton in Yorkshire to see some puffins (the other half's favourite bird) and walk around the cliffs, and look who we spotted early this morning...

Watched Hamlet Hail to the Thief just now, which was very frenetic and a lot of fun. How they managed to pack that much play into such a short space of time (plus Radiohead songs!) was very impressive. Good performances too.

Desmond's found himself a little spot in the garden to relax away from the full glare of the sun

Come for the valuable tips on cooking oils; stay for the withering critique of wasteful and hype filled AI!

This is Henry, a neighbour's cat who climbed in through our kitchen window to steal some of Vinny and Desmond's cat food, despite (or perhaps because of) being on a diet. And that's the unrepentant look of a cat who, despite being caught, would do it all again!

Finished a couple of hours early today, to catch up on some important things...

it's published! finally! in this week's newsletter: my attempt to go through every single reason why I both dislike and distrust generative AI: youngvulgarian.substack.com/p/11-things-... [free to read!]

If there are any community/relationship fundraisers in the West Midlands and/or North Wales looking for a new job at the moment, then we might have just the thing for you here at Young Lives vs Cancer... jobs.younglivesvscancer.org.uk/jobs/vacancy...

In honour of democracy manifest amongst our antipodean friends, me and the other half decided to have a succulent Chinese meal this evening.

Sure, there's local elections chat aplenty on Bluesky at the moment. But wouldn't you rather look at this photo of my parents' dog Alfie in a ball pit at doggy daycare, than obsess over the next ward to declare?

Was on the bus home from Manchester city centre and got chatting with a lad from Ghana who's here for a bit, & decided to ask him why Jolof rice is so much better in Nigeria, just to be difficult... (I am, apparently, severely misinformed)

This mural at what used to be The Thirsty Scholar (now O'Connells) has taught me that Count Duckula is from Manchester! (Alongside other Mancunian staples such as Vimto, Little Ireland, atomic theory, Happy Mondays and, er, workers rights). Turns out he's from Chorlton.

Genuinely amazed at how Desmond has gone from being a super shy cat when we first got him from the rescue centre, to now demanding lots of love and attention, but it does make working from the laptop at home difficult sometimes...

The other half bought a raised vegetable bed thing, and made me put it together as she read out the instructions. So, it looks like we're getting into gardening, and middle age is definitely now well underway.

THEY DID IT. A huge congratulations to our London Marathon runners for crossing the finish line yesterday. We’re so proud of Team Young Lives for coming together to support children and young people with cancer. 👏

Well this has been a nice Sunday. Sunshine, be impressed by marathon runners in Manchester and London, walk a few miles in the sun to the pub to watch city get to the FA cup final, and now a table booked at a Nepalese restaurant for later today for dinner.

As it's a dreaded sunny day, I thought I'd get to Didsbury via the cemetery gates. (It's embarrassing how long I didn't know the song was about Southern Cemetery, I always assumed Morrissey was singing about another cemetery)

Of course, London isn't the only city taking on a Marathon today - here's c. 20 miles or so into the course, a big thanks to everyone taking on Manchester for @younglivesvscancer.bsky.social today on a very sunny and warm day!

One of the most impressive things about some London Marathon runners is, after putting themselves through it all, they then (somehow) go & do it all again. On which, here's Luke, who is running his 10th (!) marathon today for @younglivesvscancer.bsky.social! www.huntspost.co.uk/news/2511108...

We’re ready to cheer on Team Young Lives at the #LondonMarathon. Our runners need all the encouragement they can get to complete this challenge. Come join us if you spot one of our cheer points, bring your loudest cheers, and help us celebrate our incredible runners. 🎉

Getting out of bed this morning without causing any upset may be tricky

After a decent enough day and a half in London for work, now for a train back to Manchester and a bit of light reading on the German Peasants War, as you do.

Been at the London Marathon running show today seeing our amazing @younglivesvscancer.bsky.social runners, and also the London Marathon LEGEND that is Yimmy! (If you've run the marathon, there's a decent chance you know the name)

Staying in only the most stylish of London locations for work tonight...

Having to spend an evening in London for work means a chance to visit my favourite sandwich spot in the city, Gerry's Subs. Big fan of their Cubano! (Also, walking over from Euston to Farringdon, Central London seemed... Weirdly quiet?)

Saw this and thought I'd take a photo of our ginnel in Manchester when I took the bins in. It's a fair bit greener than the photo from 53 years ago, and obviously a different part of the city, but probably about as messy...

On my walk into the stadium for the game tonight, and noticed an advert for VE Day stuff being organised by Manchester Council, including a 'knit and do arts and crafts' message about making flags for VE Day, of *all* the nations that fought in the war. ALL of them.

Amazing to come in after Easter & see Albert meeting @canaries.co.uk's star Borja! Albert has cancer & is being supported by @younglivesvscancer.bsky.social Social Worker Rich, who referred Albert to @freekicks.bsky.social to be a mascot at a recent game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2tQ...

Good old 4 day weekends.
