They really are quite adorable. Doesn't help that a group of them is referred to as a 'circus of puffins' (due to their nickname of 'the clowns of the sea')

Very windy at the cliffs this morning, but worth it.

You'd see uni students in loads of the bars we drank in post work, or wandering around town during the day, in what is not a very big town centre. How do local businesses replace that custom, when it's gone? (And indeed, who else is opening & investing in massive new buildings there too?)

I used to work in Huddersfield back in the day and the uni seemed to play a huge role in the place - though maybe I'm relying too much on my memory of seeing Patrick Stewart marching through the town with a load of students back in 2014! (I think a new building was being opened?)

Ohhh I see the @manchestermill.bsky.social are doing a review of this on Wednesday, wonder what they'll make of it... (This was my view in the comments to today's Monday Briefing!)

My dad's a self-employed accountant who has now hit pensionable age - this move to digital is what will probably make him decide to give up on the day job/sell up, for exactly all the reasons you mention - why bother with the hassle anymore?

So that's what these lads were there for at St Mark's!

And I still catch that strange coppery small of the pennies on my hands to this day...

Had to go back home to collect my car cos it was impossible to carry so much weight etc back (lived nearby), abandoned counting it myself and used a local supermarket coin counter, then had to pay it all in. Whatever the donation was worth, it was likely less the value of my time & travel costs!

Many years ago a supporter dropped off a donation at the hospital office for the charity I worked for, so I said I'd pop in and get it counted, paid in etc. What I wasn't told though was... it was several large bags for life full to the brim with pennies, the occasional 10p/20p/50p, very few £ coins

Loved working in an office in my 20s in my 1st 'proper' charity job - loads of others in their 20s who I'd socialise with, some great nights out. Now I'm a bit older, have a core set of friends/relationships, fully on team wfh. Especially as it means more time spent with these two wfh coworkers!

I mean, just look how cosy Vinny is!

One thing I learnt from my time at the first charity I worked for, which supported families whose loved ones had been killed/seriously injured in crashes, was that you can kill or injure someone with the minimum of consequences to yourself, if you do so with a car.

A huge HUGE thank you to @freekicks.bsky.social who do amazing work helping to make experiences like this happen for young people - and THANK YOU Borja and everyone at Norwich City who made this such a special day for Albert!
