Or, alternatively, they don’t like her and are happy to see her galumph onto land mines!

Alternatively, some US colleges drop the pretense of being educational institutions and just become full time sports teams!

Asperger, ironically in this case, probably collaborated with the Nazis to allow some kids to be euthanized. Damnatio Memoriae is appropriate in his case.

I have, in a funny way. I was in a chain restaurant last night in Dublin and the bathrooms were marked M and F. The problem is that in Irish Gaelic (gaelige), the official 1st language of Ireland, ‘Men’ translates as ‘Fir’ and ‘Women’ is ‘mná’. Different language, different restroom. Take your pick!

One other small issue. While listening to the Podcast I looked down at my Apple Watch fitness tracker and saw this. Gave me a bit of a shock but I might get out of doing the groceries.

Maybe you won’t get so many laughs in Ireland about the Civil Wars. Perhaps 2-3 times as many casualties as in England. 20-40% of its population dying from war, disease and famine. I know it’s typically totally ignored with all the Cavalier and Roundhead guff.

From a European perspective that sounds like ‘it’s really quite warm but with the wind I’d be better to put on a jacket’!

But you still didn’t want to give an opinion on whether he should be president……..

Ann Telnaes’ cancelled cartoon from the @washingtonpost.com . Streisand effect in its purest form and the WaPo further destroys its history and reputation.

‘On tender hooks’, should be ‘on tenter hooks’. Tenter hooks were used to hold cloth that was drying to stop it from shrinking.

I remember working as a Security Guard in an old dark, empty, partially flooded warehouse building on the Boston docks one night in 1989 staying awake drinking Jolt Cola and reading the Exorcist. I can’t ever remember being more scared.

I saw a couple of these in Rome recently. 2 seater, electric city car. Can be parked almost anywhere. Renault Twizy

Maybe, but still with the basic version

Even then there’s been some bloat in the mini! Old vs new.

Only insofar with the definition and interpretation of same the threshold is very high. I wonder if there’s an over-emphasis on establishing it. The ICJ won’t reach a judgement for a long time, in the meantime it’ll be denied. Other war crimes & crimes against humanity are more clear & incontestable

I would agree that endemic rather than epidemic disease, no matter how horrible, would have been more of an issue in the long term.

TB was a scourge but I wonder what the effect of chronic nematode (round worm) infection was. It seems everyone (including King Richard III) was affected and the effect of chronic malnutrition, anaemia and inflammation and the vulnerability it left you for other diseases can’t be discounted.

No real positives to this but for us outside the US we’re going to have a really big control group.

It’s to an extent due to the success of Aspirin. After they acetylated Salicylic Acid to create it, Bayer then thought ‘what else can we acetylate’. So they diacetylated morphine to get diamorphine. It is quite a nice analgesic for severe pain.

You don’t even know how to spell his name! You think SF has the power to ban something despite it never having been in government in Ireland. You can’t ‘uphold democracy’ if you ban independent newspapers.

My stroke rehab unit is called the George Friderick Handel Ward because I wanted it named for a stroke patient!
comment in response to post
Little known fact. Handel had previously suffered a stroke and when in Dublin for the premiere of Messiah, he suffered another mild stroke or TIA.

Listen, there’s a nice site called X that loves people keen on banning publications and on conspiracy theories. You might be happier there? The Irish Times Trust www.irishtimes.com/about-us/the...
comment in response to post
Do you think banning newspapers is a good thing?
comment in response to post
Murdoch doesn’t own it. It’s the Irish Times not The Times (Irish Edition). The Irish Times is owned by an independent trust.

So ‘crossed every line’ is short for ‘repeatedly criticised the extremist Israeli Government’
comment in response to post
On the other hand, it’s not very antisemitic. Really Ireland has a problem with the actions of the Israeli government which has amongst its members 2 people facing ICC arrest warrants for war crimes and 1 or 2 convicted of terrorist offences.
