I ran a county archives for several years. More than have the material was not online, and we had thousands of items online. For most documents, at most we had box and folder names. AI can't tell you about the genealogy records an amateur historian pieced together by hand we have bc it's not online.

You learn about your topic by researching it. Who says something, why they said it, and what's left out of the narrative help build your story. AI cannot do any o those things. All it can do is stochastic parrot in the general direction of research.

Relatedly, if you haven't been in an archives you have no idea just how much historical material is not online, not even a digital record of it. An LLM cannot research data it doesn't have. It can't even extrapolate where to find that material.

Dem strategists does not equal Dem elected officials. Still time to pressure Dems to tank this bill as it's a fucking massive gift. The crypto industry is full of frauds and criminals. There's no redeeming value to this industry and Dems should be trying to dismantle it permanently.
