Oh. I don't do this. Squashing causes problems when you rename a file and also make changes to it. It can no longer track the file if you change too much of it. Also I like history.
You can very easily hide merge commits and only see one "level" of commits with git settings

I’m not using a preview. In fact I’m still on 8. I haven’t found a workaround yet but admittedly haven’t tried very hard. I’ve just been using the full namespace wherever it complains. It was happening with generic List and maybe one other type in my case
