Honestly, I’m mostly interested in what misconceptions about the armed forces can be countered by seeing people walk in a straight line.

I'm already liking Sweden more than Helsinki, which is to say - unlike in Helsinki - I've been able to figure out which bottles of clear liquids in the mini bar are still water without taking a swig from them.

I moved out of Los Angeles last year in September. It's nice to know that I was the dividing line between it being a great American city and an invasion of lawless criminals.

If you are National Guard or Active Duty military and you are being ordered to violate the constitutional rights of US citizens then this is the number to the GI Rights Hotline. There is support. You don’t have to go through with it. 877-447-4487

they let tim cook

According to the official White House account, the US is in the midst of an "insurrection" that warrants federalization of the National Guard, which is why the President is attending a UFC fight and hanging out with Dana White.

There’s a post doing the rounds about how CNN’s lead story is their airing good night a good luck. That could have been true at some point. It is not true right now.

Excited to learn that we all get to become experts in the National Guard's authorizing statutes

Miller should insist platoons of Guard members sleep in random LA people’s homes this evening, just to see if the Supreme Court would 6-3 or 5-4 its way to overturning the third amendment. Real opportunity for truly original Originalist hijinks.

I see people asking Newsome to “do something.” What are you actually asking him to do? I’m not saying there’s nothing he can do. I just don’t know what it is.

The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers. That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.

I’m deleting a thread doing back of napkin calculations about the number of troops you’d need to occupy LA. While I can base that on published reports, wars or the riots - I’m not the right person to be guessing this.

Huge day on the internet for "the military is about logistics nerds" Not that they're wrong they're just all trying to out post each other rn

Weirdly, this benefits whoever the overall worst team is. bsky.app/profile/awfu...

Here are some texts I got from an immigration lawyer friend of mine. Shared with permission. Some of the bleakest shit I’ve ever heard.

Thinking about how the car-centric nature of Mario Kart World hurts its residents. Toads have to cross a road where there is racing going on just to get from the lifeguard station to the water.

Washington D.C. is a horribly confusing mix of federal and local jurisdictions. If you're angry at a politician for something happening locally, you're almost definitely angry at the wrong one.

I'm begging you. Don't respond to a newspaper's Bsky account to say the media won't cover the story.

I'm about to head to Sweden. Does anyone need anything from Sweden?

Let's have some fun. In this NYT story, we see a picture of an OpenAI billboard on a college campus, suggesting the following prompt: "Give me a guide for mastering this Calc 101 syllabus. In two weeks. Small steps please." What happens when we actually use ChatGPT to do this? THREAD!

Here are some things stopping that. -Several of these people don't want to run for president, or run as an independent -Parties hold primaries. As soon as you're part of a party, you aren't independent -This is an unsustainable number of candidates -Phone voting is a real deal bad security idea

Honestly? Arcade Fire opening for the Unicorns in an all ages show in Milwaukee a few months before Funeral. It was immediately clear the whole show was now their concert. Even the setlist knew what was up - the chorus to the Unicorns’ opening song was “we’re the Unicorns and we’re people too.”
