Finished The Phantom Fellows tonight and boy, what a marvelous love letter to the golden age of point-and-click adventure gaming. Especially love the shout-out to @pushinguproses.bsky.social who (along with PawDugan) helped me get (back) into this type of adventure gaming.

The homie Conan

House and Senate leaders should demand resignations from both Major General Pat Work, the 82nd Airborne Division commander, and Colonel Chad Mixon, the Fort Bragg garrison commander. This was possibly the most partisan speech ever delivered by a commander-in-chief to U.S. troops.

I hate the "the protests are small! they're overreacting!" framing! even if the protests were as big or bigger than they were in 2020, it still wouldn't justify the occupation of a city by troops!!!

All the people I still know in LA laugh and laugh when they hear that "Los Angeles is burning." I made a couple of maps to show just how tiny and localized the protests are. GOPers are working really hard to make an excuse for declaring martial law. People should be very wary of that.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

This is literally how you start a civil war.

an additional negative impact is that people who work at places that insist on a flat, 'neutral,' authoritative voice also think their way is actual good writing, and they'll actively go out of their way to talk down to people who write with personality at all

Moderate, inside-voice, policy-wonk liberalism has allowed our society to descend into nativist, eugenicist, segregationist hellscape straight out of 1920. It has refused to consider how these ideas spread and refused to fight back as they have.

It's bad reporting. Plain and simple. So many articles open with "Property Damaged!!!" "Force Used!" "Cops Attacked!" and you have to wait until half-way through the article to hear why the protests are happening in the first place. Really shoddy sensationalist, pro-authoritarian journalism.

everyone who talks about how fake and terrifying big cities are makes it sound like they're living in an isolated farming town in the middle of nowhere when in reality they're all in the fucking suburbs. "us REAL americans" ok you live in a gated community, relax

1. This is very bad "you should talk to your lawyer and shut up and especially don't go publicly say this" behavior. 2. There is absolutely nothing illegal in sharing the location of ICE or any other law enforcement activity. Not just it's constitutionally protected, there's no statute against it.

The only flag we fly in this house is the freak flag

What’s most disturbing to me is how utterly complicit in anti-protest/er and pro-cop propaganda our news sources are. Utterly rejecting the validity of any aggression from protesters, making up lies to paint protesters as more violent, erasing any culpability of cops, ignoring protest context…

Posting this 1967 Birmingham News editorial cartoon for all the people who don't realize that this is how MLK was viewed by a big chunk of white America.

As the government is putting up photos and rewards for protesters that they want to go after, remember that the person who called in the tip about Luigi never got paid.

If you want proof that this place is not an echo chamber for the left try expecting more from the Democratic party, the party I have voted for all my life

ICE started raiding the hotel they were staying in - interrogating cleaning ladies Good luck housing ICE agents in Los Angeles now

Hamilton Nolan is always on point, but today he is especially on point. www.hamiltonnolan.com/p/youre-a-bu...

Let’s remember how Trump’s military occupation of LA began: —ICE raid arresting garment workers at a factory —ICE raid arresting day laborers @ Home Depot *Raids arresting workers* This has nothing to do with deporting criminals & everything to do with creating a militarized terror police state.

I don’t know what the history books will say, because history is written by the winning side, but I want it to be known that no matter what they say, we did not do nothing

ChatGPT is down but The Museum of English Rural Life still stands, proving once again that Silicon Valley cannot compete with the history of rural England and its people.

Just to give you an idea of how dumb this is: if we doubled the speed of our fastest spacecraft, then doubled it again, it's still take 1,500 years to reach the nearest star. If we could travel at the fastest speed possible (which nothing with mass can) it'd take until 2030 to reach one star.

I was a medic at the Santa Ana protests in OC today. I watched police fire tear gas, flash bangs, & rubber bullets into crowds of men, women, & children. Other medics and I were clearly marked with red crosses, and the police were targeting us. One of the most fucked up things I’ve ever seen.

NEW: we talked to a bunch of people who say their family and loved ones became obsessed with ChatGPT and spiraled into severe delusions, convinced that they'd unlocked omniscient entities in the AI that were revealing prophecies, human trafficking rings, and much more futurism.com/chatgpt-ment...

wrong. the most profoundly validating experience for a man is breaking the backboard in nba jam

Oh man “is said?” Someone SAID it?? Fuck, I’d take that to the bank then. Kneel before AI everyone.

the fact that people were told “today you are going to an elementary school to lie to teachers and kidnap kids” and didn’t immediately tell their bosses to go fuck themselves is all you need to know about why ICE should be dismantled
