It distresses me how, increasingly, people look to pretty much all education to be vocational ed, preparing someone to slide into a job with little hope for any sort of advancement, just creating cogs for the economy.

When I write, I listen to the same music on repeat, day after day. It’s a way to get into and stay in a writing trance. Over the years it took me to write and revise (and revise and revise) the novel I just finished, I listened to “Fake Empire” and “Start a War” 8,000 times each, back to back.
