sssshhhh!!!!
They're not smart enough to have though about that *yet*. I'm sure some dogebag will eventually suggest it to the yapping yam. Then we'll have to deal with however he decides to misapply trade procedures he doesn't understand to forms of commerce he can't […]

... what do you figure is going to happen when the US gets bored with this particular flex and decides the millions they are paying El Salvador to rent shelves in this new Abu Ghraib is too much, and cuts off the cash? They're not going to repatriate those they illegally rendered.

If you really think Canadian businesses need more of your money ...
Buy their products.
Bonus: most of the Canadian businesses who actually DO need your money right now aren't trading on the stock markets anyway.
Buy their products.
The companies that could even possibly benefit from this […]

And if you ARE someone who has an extra $5k on hand somehow? Unless you have first maxxed out your pension/RRSP, and THEN maxxed out your TFSA contribution room going back to the year it started .. (2008? Can't recall right now), there's no way a financial adviser with a shred of sense would let […]

Only complaint I have is that while they have all the automatic clicks configured for those *other* social media sites, they don't have one ready to go for the Fediverse or for Bsky.
Oh well - we can keep lobbying for that after this month too.

@cogdog You should just own it and charge $5 to autograph their Maroon5 CDs.

@tim_lavoie someone has cursed me to the ghost of Steve Jobs or something, I swear - since I upgraded my Mac last summer the autocorrupts of my own name have gotten crazy.
I *think* it's because when on a touch screen, I hit the i instead of o often enough, and start typing "jihanna" once in a […]

@cogdog You're only the 2nd most google-able A. Levine out there I guess. 😆
I swear this is "AI" getting loose in all our comms tools, etc., and we aren't even aware our email clients are using it.
Instead of just either leaving proper nouns/names as people type them, autocorrect/autocomplete […]

@sundogplanets Good luck! And thank you for showing of the kids, they're adorable. Baby goats seem to have very reliable stress reduction properties.
It's funny to me how many people I've followed for random non-animal reasons seem to raise goats.

I am astounded at the coherence of this continuing speech. This is not Dr. Seuss or reading everyone to sleep reciting legislation. This is on fire.

@mcorbettwilson Not any longer, I'm afraid, if the calendar cancellations and email from the (remaining) organizer are to be believed.
Some discussion on the next steps for the event/org itself will be convened, but that is it for now.

@mpjgregoire Ew, yeah, I do remember that one.
I don't have a shred of fondness to spare for Harper, but do have to acknowledge he was fast on the gaffes in party optics. And yeah, this is so much worse. It comes under both stochastic terrorism and foreign interference.

@mpjgregoire Carney said he saw a teachable moment and accepted Chiang's apology, but the more I chew on this the more I cannot see it as acceptable.
Maybe if we were in an era where a threat of rendition wasn't credible ... maybe if Chiang hadn't been socialized on team ACAB ... maybe if Tay […]

@fediforum @j12t I don't know if you've taken care of it in the last few hours, but as of earlier today, reminder emails were still arriving with the previous co-organizer as the sender.
Won't disrupt my participation but I had to look into what was going on & understand it's slow to turn a big […]

@shauna oooh, wow, I see so many more questions in that question ...
What's a media channel?
Define "reach"?
Threshold for "most"?
How can you even conceptualize metrics in this question?
Frankly, define "people", when it comes to what end point does the communication land at.
I'd be so […]

@VeroniqueB99 Here's hoping.
Sad to be adding more space junk, though, astronomers are having enough trouble with the fashy swarm of them up there.

@kim_harding Since neither of us is buying US booze now, Canada and Denmark should resume the ceremonial Trading Of Whisky for Schnapps that regularly punctuated the Hans Island dispute before it was settled.
Just, you know, our respective Heads of State/Heads of Gov't sending each nations aqua […]
