Which Large Language Model do you prefer? The one that thinks trans people don’t exist or the one that doesn’t want to talk about Tianmen Square in 1989?

I’m not a big fan of Bluesky. I don’t see the point and all I want is already there on the Fediverse/Mastodon. But many people enjoy Bluesky. Some of those are really good and smart people. I agree with a lot of the points that Cory Doctorow makes in this piece. pluralistic.net/2025/01/14/c...

I want computing to be a little less broken and a little more magical .

We have not inherited the Internet. We have borrowed it from our cats.

"Bluesky promises to rethink social media by focusing on openness and user control. But what does this actually mean for the millions of people joining the site?"

Bashar al-Assad ✔️ Yoon Suk Yeol ✔️ I like this trend of authoritarians losing power and have a few other additions to that list.

When asked if Bluesky would always be free of advertisers like it is today, Graber said: “I don’t think that’s necessarily true.” “I think the ways we would explore advertising, if we did, would be much more user intent-driven,” said Graber (…) techcrunch.com/2024/12/05/b...

Wow, #Bluesky sure has a lot of spam bot fake accounts. Such a good Twitter replacement.

In 2007, I wrote a piece of #InteractiveFiction in the form of a classic text adventure. The story is about the Chaos Communication Camp 2007, an international, five-day open-air event for hackers and associated life-forms that took place from August 8th to 12th 2007 in Finowfurt near Berlin.

Together with Thiemo Kreuz I wrote a little #roguelike game with items generated from #Wikidata that lets you crawl through the Dungeon of Knowledge in a classic ASCII interface. The game is more than seven years old, but it’s still working and still fun! Play it here: www.johl.io/dungeonofkno...

The debate over whether Bluesky is truely decentralized or just the latest walled garden with better PR continues. Here's a more detailed technical analysis of Bluesky AT Protocol by Christine Lemmer-Webber, a co-creator of ActivityPub.

Getting money from scammy blockchain investors and putting them on the board ain't great. At least they read the room and distanced themselves from crypto/tokens (for now).

Bluesky has raised a $15 million Series A financing led by “Blockchain Capital”. bsky.social/about/blog/1...

Hello from Croissant.

According to folklore, butterflies steal the cream off milk pots, hence the name. Their German name "Schmetterling" has the same roots, but that’s obscure to most speakers nowadays, as "Schmetten" is an archaic or regional word for butter with a Slavic origin.
