I am placing this piece in the open group show at Covenant here in Wellington today. I want to do some more esoteric works. I find it very satisfying.

I've been busy working away on Beyond the Bleak Forest. Today I sorted out the Danger Die. As you explore the hex map, each terrain type has an associated DD. With a minimum of 1d6 and a maximum of 4d6. This determines the encounters you will have. As the die increases, so does the danger.

www.omnicalculator.com/statistics/d... Omnicalculator is another tool I have found to be incredibly helpful in my game design. Cheers!

As I progress on my game design projects, having hand reference to things like probability curves and the like is really useful. Here's one for d6 pools that is handy: gurpsland.no-ip.org/articles/d6c...

I was pretty surprised to see an article on Dungeon Synth in the Guardian. I have been listening to alot of Dungeon Synth, blackgaze, and atmospheric black metal lately. www.theguardian.com/music/2025/f...

Daisey signed us up for a reduction print making course. I am very excited. I love print making but have not done it in many years. I feel a little guilt about having the printing blocks just sitting around. Now, with the reduction printing, I will just get rid of the block at the end of the process

Just finished Cunning Folk by Adam Nevill. If you are a fan of British folk horror, this is a wonderful exemplar of the style. Slow burn tale of a city family moving to the countryside. Their horrible neighbors harbor a dark secret. Much mayhem ensues. I highly recommend it. Cheers!

BtBF is getting closer all the time. It's funny, though it is relatively simple, and inspired by a few other "simple" TTRPG games like Cairn, FATE, Black Hack, etc.; it still takes a while to work out all of the intricacies. /1

Here's another piece that I originally did for Labyrinth Lord 2e. Since the project has gone dark, I might find a new home for this piece entitled: "Enchanting the Demon Blade". Cheers and happy gaming!

Playing around with some more graphic design ideas for Beyond the Bleak Forest, a solo TTRPG of Ominous Positivity. Cheers and happy gaming!

Here's a look at prototypes for the item cards for your inventory in Beyond the Bleak Forest. There will be cards for Armour as well as a few other things. Cheers and happy gaming!

Here's a piece that I originally did for Labyrinth Lord 2e. The project has gone dark and no word on the progress. It's a shame, I had a lot of fun doing the art on it. Here we have an orc warband. Cheers and happy gaming!

OK, this was me and Daisey's song back in High School. Geezum, I graduated 35 years ago! Life goes on, but the love is still strong: youtu.be/AIBv2GEnXlc?...

OK, turns out finding my favorite romantic song for Valentine's Day is hard. This one sums up my wife Daisey and I pretty much: youtu.be/Fb2q141rMNE?...

Ah heck, tomorrow is Valentine's Day in Aotearoa New Zealand. So I thought I'd get it kicked off with my favourite romantic song: youtu.be/XoAydx7Anuc?...

I love Emma Ruth Rundle's work. She has an honesty and beauty about her art that is just so very hard to find. Her work is somewhat dark and melancholic, often dealing with themes of death and sorrow, but she handles it in a transcendent way that borders on ecstatic. youtu.be/wDlJ7BBPJw0?...

Winged Justice 2024. Cheers and happy gaming!

Not sure why it took me so long to get around to watching it, but I just watched Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water and loved it. Being a fan of the Creature from the Black LAgoon and Abe Sapien from Hellboy, it was a natural fit. Had been on my watch list for a while. Glad I got around to it.

Here’s what we did today

Anyone else have these as a kid in the 80's? Man, I loved them. I had the Scorpion and dragonfly. Dunno why but I forgot all about them until a couple of weeks ago they popped into my head.

I've been making some great progress on Beyond the Bleak Forest Solo TTRPG of Ominous Positivity. It's taking quite a while because I'm AuDHD and I'm building this from the ground up to be a whole TTRP engine that will power two other games. BtBF is for want of a better word, a test harness. /1

I've been kicking around the idea of doing a Patreon for a while now. I do a lot more art, writing, and design work than I ever actually put out for publishing. I am wondering if there would be interest if I did it and had a tier that collects some that work into a physical zine?

I really want to do a zine with art and gaming stuff like back in my punk rock youth. A lot of zines now are more polished. I am thinking about the down and dirty Kinko's at 11pm cut & paste photocopy zine style. Back then we really didn't care so much about coherence, we just needed to make stuff.

Still in the very early rough draft stages, but here's a look at what I'm thinking for Item Cards in Beyond the Bleak Forest. It helps me progress my writing if I am also doing art and graphic design as well. Cheers and happy gaming!

I'm a big fan of Emma Ruth Rundle's music. This was a great peek into the artist behind the music. youtu.be/cDUn72eP6QE?...

I really don’t think it’s happenstance that pretty much every remaining institutional safeguard broke down within 15 years of Citizens United

I was playing around with character sheet ideas. This needs a bit more work, but I like the direction and I want it to be so that everything you need to play will be on this sheet for your character and I'll do a quick summary card for the most relevant rules. I feel like I'm getting a lot closer...
