If you're a reporter covering sensitive stuff, there will be moments when it makes sense to send questions in advance and to grant people anonymity to allow for honest comments. Make sure to have Signal and SecureDrop for sensitive documents. Legal checks are worth it. Avoid rushing for a scoop.

My one caveat to the good news: I'm sorry on behalf of OpenNews that we scheduled our conference at the same time as NAHJ in Chicago this year. SRCCON works in part due to great, existing partners in MN. We didn't have any other dates that worked. I'll keep brainstorming ways to make up for it! 🙏
