One of the reasons the US got out of Panama was that there was escalating conflict with people in Panama that didn't want us there. The US military was worried about violence, so the US (under Nixon) started negotiations to get out.

The statement is obviously wrong. The integers and rational numbers are real numbers, so it's saying that rational numbers don't matter.
