Reinventing myself here, away from the toxicity of Muskland, which got to my psyche too much and made me a worse person than I want to be. Bi, poly, pro-choice, anti-racist, anti-TERF, pro-sw'er. Don't follow me if you ain't cool like that He/they

Today's WaPo Editorial news reminds me of how Variety once gave a glowing review to the Nuremberg Rally, aired in America by NBC and CBS during their early radio days.

Why does every photo of Kash Patel look like he's just realized he's shit his pants and he's waiting for everyone else to figure that out?

CONCLAVE about to turn into a true story up in here www.cbsnews.com/news/pope-fr...

Musk vs Bannon right now

People gotta learn one thing and one thing quick: Killing people IS the point. They want us to die. They are a combo of Xtian death cult plotting Revelations or billionaires culling society to make it more manageable to control, each helping the other out. This isn't even basic fascism anymore.

Happy Valentine's!

Why did the last thing I watched have to be called The Seventh Curse?

Hey, @jlalibs.bsky.social, @vinsyn.bsky.social, @severinfilms.bsky.social at any1 who advocates for phys media: a nonprofit video store is opening in my hometown of Northampton, MA & they are looking to raise funds and/or donated titles within 30 days. Is there anyway to share? www.visionsvideo.org

What Republican leaders look like vs What Democrat leaders look like.

The most heartwrenching thing about what's happening isn't that Trump and Musk are doing what they always said would do. It's the leaders who can do something...just not. Rolling over. It's like The Avengers tut-tutting about Thanos's plan while actively handing him the infinity stones.

Horror is a transgressive, punk rock genre that is at times VERY political. And a large component of our audience and community is very, very queer. You don't have to share our politics to enjoy horror, but you sure as shit should share the ideals that everyone has a right to exist if you make it.

David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera are the reasons why the TERRIFIER films work at all, certainly not Damien Leone's writing. Any schmuck with a love of gore and an imagination for kills can do that part. Leone is the replaceable one in this equation and Cineverse would be smart to realize that

Not saying you should call, not saying that his voice mailbox is still taking messages...

Sweet. Now I can foist Malört on my sober friends, too

TOXIC AVENGER remake coming Aug 29. Just in time for my birthday, as long as Cineverse does Thursday previews

Might be canceling my @paramountplus.bsky.social subscription if they capitulate to an orange nazi

My personal #1 film of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 #filmsky

Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid are easily becoming two of my favorite "newer" actors. Why, yes, I saw COMPANION, why do you ask? #filmsky

I can't believe the Academy nominated Brady Corbet for Best Director and his film for Best Picture, after he helped Michael Pitt kill that nice suburban family. Does the Academy have no memory? No morals? No *shame*?

Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos could all *literally* lose 99% of their entire net worth and *still* be multi-billionaires. Let that sink in.

A lot of people here who consider themselves progressive should take some time to decide whether they're going to spend the next four years picking niggling side fights and out-lefting the person one inch to their right, or making common cause against bigotry, cruelty, and authoritarianism.

"Why won't Democrats..." They're in on it, that's why.

I knew this day would eventually come, but I also thought it would never come. One of my favorite filmmakers gone. So let's remember his words: FIX YOUR HEARTS, OR DIE. RIP, David Lynch.

My contribution to the BETTER MAN discourse is that the "Rock DJ" sequence alone has more vitality, texture, flair, panache and vibrancy than the entirety of WICKED and EMILIA PEREZ combined.

And my first theatrical experience of 2025 is..... THE DAMNED! (I drove an hour for this, it better hold up to the hype.)

Not making this official until Jan, when films like BRUTALIST, HARD TRUTHS & NICKEL BOYS finally open near me, but of the over 100 2024 movies I've seen this year, this is my Top 24 for the very end of 2024.

My final film of 2024 was...WICKED. And it was fine. A good movie that is badly made, set design, acting, music & source material doing a lot of heavy lifting the cinematography & editing let down. Not the year's worst musical! (That's EMILIA PEREZ)

Having gone viral twice on Twitter: Just ignore any and all comments & quotes, & just play a numbers game of "how high can it go". Only way to keep it sane.

*Really* good double bill tonight: finally caught up w/ A REAL PAIN, & it immediately landed a place in my top 10. A Sundance-style quirkcom w/ legitimate emotional heft. Floored me w/ how unexpectedly great it was. More SIDEWAYS/WITHNAIL & I then i thought it would be.

@vinsyn.bsky.social Black Friday haul finally came in!

THE ORDER: scratches the itch for a taut, muscular procedural crime drama. Scarily relevant. Somewhat cliché, but when the clichés are done this well? Excellent perfs from Jude Law and a terrifyingly dead-eyed Nicholas Hoult. Makes sense Jeremy Saulnier was a producer on this. #FilmSky
