Literally easier to comprehend familiar violence than the peace which passes understanding.

And relatedly, anyone trying to make those things happen is asked to leave. Politely at first, but...

The metaphor may not be perfect, but there's a real sense in which successful diplomacy, however defined -- Iran-Israel detente/friendship; Israeli+Palestinian statehood, friendship & security, etc etc -- is "scarier" than the familiar script, incl all the death & destruction that script entails

I mean, you also probably enjoy not having polio. Don't look for reason when there's only a desire to destroy.

That's good! Still leaves us with a very, very terrible 20th century but less violent extremism is better.

Also, we could use both the peacemaking and the BBQ over here these days. But coming to Waco in a few weeks!

The ethos of the administration is to steal, kill, destroy... and smirk.

The country where I live has 8~9x fewer people, and I have little confidence my home state senator could have guessed which is bigger. I get that the interview was one bad guy doing a gotcha on another bad guy, but at the end of the day the senator is the one with actual duty.

All good ideas. I'm pro. But I think the answer to your original question lies more in accepting that the US is governed by a "government of the people, by the people, and for the people."
We ARE the leaders/politicians. WE have a responsibility to tell the truth and vote w integrity as best we can

Maybe this is the brilliant cross-cutting lens we need to understand Rubio, DOGE, DOGE bros, premature security firms, and the decimation of the State Dept & attempted takeover of USIP in... Foggy Bottom 😂😭

Hope she feels better.
Also, beware: the hot air open window may be better than the cigarette smoke or cologne with the AC

Same reason as Lebanon, which they mercilessly torment with flyovers (same for Syria to a lesser degree). Their jets are fast, & to the degree they get US mil aid, it's required by us law to be a generation behind Israel's equipment.

So... your desire to feed and clothe the poor doesn't extend to the very large numbers of poor people in Jordan and Egypt whose trucks are hanging on by a thread and whose leaders are stuck between a rock and a hard place?
Maybe just pray for peace and prosperity across the region, please.
