I used to see a couple of the weird-looking Tesla pickups here in Southern NH. But since Trump and Musk took over, they've disappeared. Is that because they're lousy in snow, because of owners' fears their expensive toys will be vandalized, or because the owners don't want to be seen in one?

One of the Musk kids will use some oversold AI gadget to come to thousands of improbable and incorrect conclusions. And I'm wondering if DOGE "employees" and White House staff got this. I'm hoping (against hope) that all the employees of some key agency will simply ignore it.

Still above my desk ... and still timely

Does anyone have any experience with a virtual book club? Has anyone run one? If yes, how did it go? Pros/Cons? Suggestions? What tools were used? Worth the effort? Thanks!

THIS!

As is the so-called "American Century," in less than a century.

He's an economist? Really? With lines like that, he can't even play one on TV

Totally agree. Love that book and recommend it often. It's a good read, but more importantly, it's a hell of a warning

I'm thinking Palm Beach

Time to emigrate from MO

Let's see the paperwork. If and when it's shared, let's be sure it wasn't post-dated.

Gee, there seems to be a pattern here. Reckless, ignorant, arrogant destruction.

Federal employees do important work, it turns out. Join the #SaveOurServices Day of Action tomorrow to remind the country.

Oops no more Yosemite.

One of Britain’s “most conservative,Trump-friendly news sites” lays out how Trump is looking for what amounts “the U.S. economic colonization of Ukraine in legal perpetuity.” Beyond shameful. www.politico.com/newsletters/...

The meeting, likely to be held on Monday, will address US efforts to sideline European leaders from Ukraine peace talks, the position Europe should adopt on Ukraine’s future Nato membership and how Ukraine can be offered security guarantees: without the US if necessary. apple.news/AebykBytLTpG...

Been saying same about NY, MA, and CA. Even better if they join together

Let's simplify this: if Trump only allows coverage by Fox, Breitbart, OAN, then he reaches only those audiences ... and one courageous watcher who follows them so we don't have to

Good idea

Absolutely no reason for surprise. EVERYONE's working assumptions must be that 1. Trump is lying; 2. Whatever he agrees to is worthless. These have been true for decades. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Fool me 3,264 times, what the hell is wrong with me? Act accordingly.

I guess we can just do this now.

This is pathetic. What remains of legitimate press should bolt with the AP.

More evidence emerging here. Attention: legal community.

Ideas about which companies and people favor Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminum: I'll start with Airbus, Boeing's only real competitor in commercial aviation: www.airbus.com/en. Boeing builds in Kansas and South Carolina as well as Washington and other states.

Hey Congressman Carter: Ever been to Greenland? I get what the blue and white might symbolize. White for the snow and ice. Blue for the color of your lips. Haven't figured out what the red would symbolize yet. Any ideas? Maybe the marker color of your school teacher when she gives you an "F."

A fun alternative: Trump should invite all those folks who live in Gaza to immigrate to the US. Florida's temperatures are likely the most similar. I'm thinking somewhere around Mar-a-Lago.

Mark Cuban out here with good free ideas the Dem consultant class wont give you despite the millions of dollars they are paid annually.

It appears this post is going…viral🦠 (I’ll see myself out.)

Mixed blessing at best even for Pharma. I would mean that they would have to pay for the basic research from which they've benefited for decades

Dear Tim Cook & Apple Board, regarding this story: www.washingtonpost.com?reload=true&.... Don't do it! You have a huge market advantage based on trust. Don't throw it away. Tell UK folks that they can give up their privacy or give up their Apple products. Signed by an Apple user since the Mac SE

Not just startups. Despite the oversimplified but pervasive talk, you can't run government "like a business," any business. What percent of businesses last 10 years? 25? 50? 250? Remember conglomerates, sprawling corporations made up of unrelated businesses? They failed. But we ask gov'ts to do that

Persist!

With all the talk of tariffs on Mexico/Canada, I feel like getting rid of the de minimis exemption has been underdiscussed. It's gonna be total chaos because there's no way they're actually hiring enough customs officials to inspect everything, right?

As you watch what's happening with USAID, remember this: encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a...

One of the kids who's controlling the country's financial life. And, likely yours.

Good observation and analysis ... from someone watching Fox so I don't have to

The FAA's primary NOTAM (Notices to Air Missions) system was down earlier today. It's a very specific, constantly updated list of updates and warnings. Every responsible pilot checks it before each flight for anything pertinent to their route and destination. FAA was operating on a backup.

I can think of only one case. Churchill early in WWII. BUT, that was about persevering in the face of a brutal enemy that started the fight. It was not something that the leader had triggered, much less one they seemed to enjoy or need to help them through some weird tough-guy Daddy issue

A fellow well schooled in the dark arts of political rat fuckery is giving advice. Worth a gander, Democrats.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

Reaping the whirlwind.

Donald Trump wrecks global minimum tax on multinationals

I expect there's a small group of lawyers just waiting for the right moment to go after Musk and his minions, especially those not Federal employees who don't have the same legal protections as employees. They're waiting for a financially consequential misstep. Class action worth billions!
