"The AI’s suggestion isn’t wrong—it might be perfectly adequate. The issue is that we’re increasingly likely to stop exploring once we have something that looks right." www.shayon.dev/post/2025/16...

Programmers don’t want you to know about this one trick to fix all your bugs in one go

much like how I'm not keen to visit america under even a slight risk of being deported to el salvador, I'm unwilling to run a program with any non zero probability of deleting my hard drive

So I've now run out of free trial prompts from Cursor, Windsurf and Zed, where do I go next? Wanna extract my share of the VC money.

Another convincing post on why it's very hard to really evaluate the productivity gains/efficacy of using AI for solving problems. www.baldurbjarnason.com/2025/followu...

"... my current theory of agentic programming: people are amazing at adapting the tools they’re given and totally underestimate the extent to which they do it, and the amount of skill we build doing that is an incidental consequence of how badly the tools are designed." ferd.ca/the-gap-thro...

"It gets most things right, but it consistently makes mistakes in the places that you are least likely to notice. In places where a person *wouldn’t* make a mistake. ... there’s no mind there, so it always behaves infuriatingly randomly." blog.glyph.im/2025/06/i-th...

As we're getting ready for the first release candidate of #Phoenix #LiveView 1.1, I want to write about some of the new features and improvements we've been working on. A thread! #ElixirLang #MyElixirStatus

Who cares about April anyway.

Inside you there are two wolves. One is active, the other one is on hot standby and becomes active if the first one fails or is taken down for maintenance. Add more wolves as necessary for increased redundancy load balancing. A quorum badger can be added for environments with multiple active wolves.

Finally! > The size of an atom in the Erlang source code was limited to 255 bytes in previous releases, meaning that an atom containing only emojis could contain only 63 emojis. ... the number of bytes is no longer limited. www.erlang.org/news/174

Asked Claude to rewrite a three line function involving some addition and subtraction. I gave it the code and an expected result. It generated some code, then it immediately realized that it doesn’t return the right result, apologized and then got stuck doing the same thing again and again 🤦‍♀️

"Clever engineers write clever code. Exceptional engineers write simple code." 100% agree with this. There are rare exceptions that call for clever or innovative, but most of the time you think you're being clever you're just leaving a trap for a future you. endler.dev/2025/best-pr...

Just discovered `Process.set_label/2`, that's huge! Can't count the number of times I've been debugging live code and I had to guess which generically named process was which #ElixirLang hexdocs.pm/elixir/main/...

you fucked up a perfectly good computer is what you did. look at it. it's got innumeracy

Have you checked out the speaker line up for #ElixirConfEU yet? 🇵🇱 Here's a preview of just some of the bright minds joining us to share their knowledge. 🔥 Don't miss the innovation, connections, and inspiration waiting for you ➡️ elixirconf.eu #ElixirConf @jola.dev @rvirding.bsky.social

The people who think they are good at everything because they are good at coding are also bad at coding.

I love finding ways to use distributed elixir that are accessible and not complex, with low risk and low effort implementation. I wrote a blog post for AppSignal on one of these sweet spot use cases #ElixirLang

I'm speaking at @elixirconfeu.bsky.social this year in Krakow. I'll be talking about distributed Elixir and some basic ways in which you can get value out of it without making things complicated for yourself. It's a very practical talk to expect to come away with some recipes! #ElixirLang

One month left on the call for proposals for Code BEAM Lite Stockholm. It's already shaping up to be a great conference but we know there are people out there with really great ideas! Don't hesitate to send a proposal. If you've got questions, let me or the team know! sessionize.com/code-beam-li...

🚨 Exciting Announcement! 🚨 We’re thrilled to welcome @michalmuskala.bsky.social to Code BEAM Lite London! 🙌 Michał is a long-term Elixir and Erlang enthusiast so get ready for an inspiring talk packed with real-world expertise!

It's 3 years old but this talk by @whatyouhi.de on testing OTP is a wonderful introduction to a tricky topic. I love that it takes a pragmatic approach with the idea that an ugly test is better than no test. I've seen GenServers go untested just because of the difficulty of doing it correctly

Been holding on to this for a little bit now. We are running an Elixir conference. 10-12 September in Varberg, Sweden. One day of NervesConf EU and two days of Goatmire Elixir. Single track. Andrea Leopardi and Sanne Kalkman are our two first speakers. A lot more to come :) #elixirlang
