"Yes, Elon’s meltdown is cause to revisit his security clearances (with a consequent review of the SpaceX relationship), but the national security and privacy risk posed by Elon’s infiltration of government is actually far broader than that."

God he is so shitty www.dukechronicle.com/article/2006...

This is the contrast we should consistently make- Trump pardoning white collar felons who pay him off, even as he arrests and deports hardworking immigrants without any criminal background. www.thehandbasket.co/p/trump-pard...

Again, "came to court as told but got arrested" absolutely will affect (presumably is already affecting) the entire US legal system, not just immigration "court"

My entire adult life, which included 4 decades on Wall St, 1 single point has elided a narrow majority of the American public. It’s a narrow majority which includes every GOP voter & some “but my tax dollars” net-fiscally conservative Dems + independents: It’s a tax revenue problem. Exhibit A ⬇️

"My career in public health and vaccinology started with a deep-seated desire to help the most vulnerable members of our population, and that is not something I am able to continue doing in this role,” Dr. Panagiotakopoulos wrote following RFK Jr.’s order to force an update to the agency's guidance.

RFK Jr. is absolutely poisonous. He has now caused Dr. Lakshmi Panagiotakopoulos, the person in charge of COVID19 vaccinations at the CDC, to resign. She did so because RFK Jr. demanded that the experts in charge of vaccine guidance listen to him and not to the scientific evidence.

Let’s talk for a moment about some of the more subtle ways that the press acts as a mouthpiece for law enforcement. Actor Jonathan Joss was shot to death on Sunday. I don’t know what happened; I wasn’t there. But his husband said a homophobic neighbor shot him as part of an explicit hate crime. /1

Cuts have consequences, illustrated. As seen on TV 📺

The United States Justice Department micromanaging how the Harvard Law Review’s internal reprimand of a student editor is insane

They have quotas. They can do the hard work of finding non citizen criminals, gang members. Or they can do the easy work: round up the law-abiding who show up to appointments, pay taxes, work. The result of the latter choice is it will leave US with migrant population more like what they lied it is

Ben Shapiro, for years, has insinuated Barack Obama hates America and Israel for agreeing to a nuclear deal that wasn't even as favorable to Iran as this one

This fascinating new research overturns longstanding assumptions. It finds that lower-income groups are more concerned about the environment and prefer environmental protection over economic growth, compared to higher-income groups. Data from the USA.

this @adambonica.bsky.social piece deserves to be read beside the yeoman work that @donmoyn.bsky.social and @pamherd.bsky.social have been doing. The dismantling of administrative expertise is one of those stories that is so big that pro journalists with beats find it hard to focus on or explain .

Toxic to the rule of law, and yet another example of ICE/CBP deliberately *not* looking for all those supposed criminals, drug traffickers, terrorists, etc. They're going for literally the least dangerous, most law-abiding people they can find, the ones following every rule. The easiest targets.

Deporting a gay man to Russia is beyond horrific, and yet this admin is happy to do it. And the verbal abuse he describes is abhorrent; and not new. Guards at detention centers, jails, and prisons get away with crap like this all the time. It’s appalling, it’s not new under Trump, just worse now.

This is a unique kind of unconscionable, using the court system to put these people into a Catch-22. Come to court and be arrested or don’t come to court and be in violation, thus making you deportable. Shame on the lawyers participating in this.

I’m not saying this story is false but I am saying it is totally in the interest of the Trump White House to have a story out there suggesting that some universities are looking to acquiesce.

I’ll say this as many times as I have to. No tax cut in the history of tax cuts has ever paid for itself. Not a one.

I think this points up some of the failures of coverage of Trump's lawlessness: You could've read dozens of articles on Trump's tariff policy with no inkling of how unprecedented & legally dubious was the legal authority he claimed to impose them. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/b...
