Need to start scouting the high speed connections in Belfast, can't be having a Titan lag out and get smoked, thus ruining our profit margins for six months.

This falls in the same vein as “Master and Commander” - there is a focus on authenticity in reproducing the shiphandling and naval combat of their respective eras.

Meanwhile Dependent Care FSAs continue to be untouched entering their third decade of existence as childcare costs continue to weigh on new families. I wish that'd get a facelift.

See part of me is like “obviously he’s giving people a heads up so they can do short term buys/sells” but then tomorrow is Memorial Day so there’ll be time to cool off before markets open BUT THEN what are the chances he remembers markets are closed tomorrow and I’m right back where I started.

Do people think the “Mad King” narrative from Thrones was just an inspired narrative fantasy?

Was really hoping that @monagle.bsky.social's generic-as-hell Bloodlines synopsis was the setup to a rube-goldberg-esque auditory kill by Donato later in the episode, but it was a fun episode nevertheless.

Belay that, finally showed up - though one still wonders what it is they do over there that it took so long.

If you’re looking for a fun stupid under-the-radar follow-up story about a decaying sports brand, as of this moment McCusker still does not appear in ESPN’s fantasy baseball player database.

This is also my favorite entry, for some reason the family stakes make it pack a bigger punch.

We have a wider problem that for too many the criminal law, which is a very specific tool for a specific purpose, has become the outer bounds of acceptable conduct. If it's not a crime, it's not a problem. And that is not what the criminal law is for.

Any game that prominently displays the "pause" button in the UI promises to have some fun fuckery to work through.

Generally speaking, discussions about armed polling place security are a sign that things are Not Going Great™️ - which, of course, was the point of the post.

Although now that I think a bit longer about this, I’m pretty sure police are forbidden from the polling place (at least in MN) unless they are voting or responding to an emergency. Might be some trickiness in adding armed security.

As an election worker I would be very uncomfortable with any non-cops bringing weapons into the polling place, poll workers or otherwise. If this is such a problem, staff police for security, don’t arm volunteers.

I have not listened to any Ken Follett, but I will add some of his stuff to the queue.
