I was lucky to have great mentors at UCLA, but this wasn't a formal part of our training. It's such a hard skill to learn, but very important in my opinion.

"On Politics" was one of the first books I read as an undergrad that made me interested in political theory--and theory more broadly. I actually applied to political theory PhD programs, but only got accepted in soc programs. I wonder sometimes what might have happened if I had been accepted...
