Did a commute write this

seeing all of my friends in New Orleans for #AMS2025 posting their local beers on untapped is awesome. this is the Second Line Batture Blonde Ale and it's delicious

Occluding cyclone in the middle of the subtropical North Atlantic, forecast to move west which would lead to fronts being shed. 🐻⌚️

The drones also took my sense of smell! Time to leave a terrible review for Yankee Candles.

The world's richest man managed to take $190 million away from a *child cancer research center* with his posts yesterday. Funding now stripped in the new bill.

kind of crazy to see that a hurricane has never made landfall in Virginia, Maryland, or Delaware in ~170 years of recorded history. I wonder if that will generally hold true into the future as climate change promotes stronger jet streams and more steering of TCs away from the US in the mid-latitudes

got my travel lined up for the next few months: Christmas - ✈️NOLA mid-January - ✈️NOLA again (AMS) mid-February - 🚗Pittsburgh for a friend's birthday mid-March - ✈️OKC/Norman for a live @thedollop & to see OU friends let me know if you want to catch up in one of those spots!

Some perspective for people who are saying they hope there is a government shutdown. Government workers are real people. Your friends, your neighbors, even maybe your family. Some of us are still required to work during a shutdown, and guess what? We do not get paid for that work until…(1/2)

A major loss for the OU and earth science communities. I will always remember my 1-on-1 meeting w/ Berrien during a faculty interview. Despite being the dean w/ a million responsibilities, he had actually taken the time to read my application & was so excited and supportive. Truly a great man ❤️

Here's an analysis of the LRC's ability to predict long-term temperatures... Halfway into December, and it's not looking good... So far, you'd be better off just calling every day "normal" and take your hits that way. Using LRC was worse than NOT MAKING A FORECAST. #WIwx

Hey all, I’ve been co-coordinating a journalism workshop for DMV-area high school students for the last few years and applications have opened for next year’s program. It’s completely free. Please share with someone you know!

asking a question at the microphone and then immediately walking back to your seat is the conference equivalent of "I'll hang up and listen" #AGU24

“It should be understood that forecasts possess no intrinsic value. They acquire value through their ability to influence the decision made by users of the forecast.” — Murphy 1993: “What Is a Good Forecast? An Essay on the Nature of Goodness in Weather Forecasting”

how does a conference with 30,000 attendees only have like 26 chairs in the entire convention center outside of individual session rooms? #AGU24

If you're at the American Geophysical Union ( #AGU24 ) meeting, I'll be speaking Tue, Dec 10 at 2:40pm ET on the exponential moisture-related scaling of an increasingly broad range of meteorological/Earth system extremes in a warming #climate. agu.confex.com/agu/agu24/me...

does anyone have some recommendations for snacks for #AGU24? I'm not allowed a per diem so I'm trying to keep food costs as low as possible, but it's hard to pack something to eat at room temperature 10 hours after you've left home

The Storm Prediction Center is hiring a Fire Weather Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM) - GS-14. Applications will be accepted 12/10 - 12/23! Public: www.usajobs.gov/job/822972800 Fed/Vet: www.usajobs.gov/job/822973400

ready for the afternoon session on Atmospheric Electricity at #AGU24!

Learning a lot at #AGU24 @Climatologist49

there are tens of thousands, if not more, of cases just like this. US healthcare is a for-profit racket, and there's a reason our life expectancies are declining. it's so that the rich can have second homes

I want to watch TV coverage of the live fall of the Syrian regime. CNN is airing a Giuliani documentary, Fox News has a comedian joking about Canada, MSNBC a documentary about migrants So I turned on BBC,which is breathlessly switching between Syria, South Korea demonstrations, and Ghana election
