The number of BESS in SA coming into service is crazy, some are even fully merchant (uncontracted) just there for the market opportunity. The pace of transition is definitely picking up.

Every container is a threat!
How long before we see an attack launched off a container ship?

Too many people are overstating drone capabilities, they're not going to replace capital assets anytime soon. Russia makes drone attacks look good because they haven't invested in defences against them.
comment in response to
post
The only thing you can take out of this attack is Ukraine is constantly underestimated and Russia's capabilities are exaggerated.

I'm waiting to see how long before the UK signs up for a JORN system too like Canada.
comment in response to
post
JORN is distinctly different from the massive structures of the current BMEWS or cold war era OTHR installations, most people would think it's just communications. NZ has got plenty of good spots for one.
comment in response to
post
Yes, JORN is a pair of ground mounted arrays (line of poles & wires) spread over a km or so, along with the processing centre. They're located in remote areas to minimise electronic interference.
comment in response to
post
You wonder how long they've been thinking about setting up a JORN site in NZ.

It's what happens when you're all out of ideas but you need to show you're doing something.

Quite technically challenging to connect a power plant that size to Russia even during peacetime.

My understanding is this change is aimed at those that use SMSFs to minimise tax on assets capital gains?
