Same thing we saw here in the US. The centrist party trying to court right wing only results in weakened center and doesn’t affect right wing. Far right voters will not move to the center, but the left will absolutely abandon centrists. The only way to destroy the far right is a real alternative.

I feel kind of naive about it but I really assumed that putting an obviously insane dilettante shithead and sex creep into this particular office would be a bridge too far for the Senate.
