They’re not mutually exclusive. I would argue that you must know why you’re making something in order to make it properly. Distressingly few of my fellow computer science majors seemed to understand this in the required ethics course we took.

In my case, he was a mentor early in my career, and he got his degree in theater. I can never repay him for all the knowledge he imparted to me.

Probably the same or similar to what we had! My parents got an Apple IIGS, which was one of the few models in color back then. It came with a baseball game that my dad and I played together. Oh, and Carmen Sandiego, of course

For my part, I ate a truly concerning number of Bagel Bites while attending the University of Chicago.

The more I hear about this game, the more I think I’m going to end up buying it.

Yes, but also, protected bike lanes everywhere now (and not just protected by a row of flimsy plastic poles)

The point is to make non-white students feel unwelcome on campus.

I hate the idea of relying on capitalism to save us, but part of me hopes that the mega corporations will exert their considerable influence on the White House once they see how damaging its economic and foreign policies are for their shareholders…

Lack of labor protections is a big one. I keep thinking about how well-attended the George Floyd protests in Philly were compared to others before and since then. I suspect the difference was the pandemic and the resulting unemployment. How many more people would protest if they had no job to lose?

And yes, I know the article thumbnail above is confusing. Eich was briefly appointed CEO of Mozilla, the company that makes Firefox. He was almost immediately forced to resign after widespread outrage over his stance against same-sex marriage.

I must amend my previous suggestion. Avoid #Brave because it turns out its cofounder and CEO is noted homophobe and COVID doubter Brendan Eich slate.com/technology/2...

28 lbs! We put her on a diet, but she’s still gaining weight. We gave her so much chicken jerky and string cheese when we were initially training her 😭😭😭

I have a somewhat different problem. Tater Tot will refuse to walk if she doesn’t like the weather. I’m getting lots of exercise carrying this stubborn potato for blocks to her favorite potty spots though.
