As much as it pains me to choose, I’ll take the reality where they get off scot free and society didn’t collapse over the one where they suffer some heinous punishment but the US becomes third world.

Playing Infra gave me such an appreciation for how much we depend on maintenance vs. just shiny New Things being built, and it makes me sad any time I see budget reallocations away from that. Entropy cares not for political posturing, it'll just keep eating away at that gusset plate.

Saw some at Costco last time I was there, but it's definitely become a less common thing, which is a shame.

Or... now that I think about it, this wolf sounds less like a Scholar of the Discordance

This is sounding like something I'd run into while researching the Red Science in Fallen London

"Can you tell us in more detail what you were working on in the past few years?" "...No, but I can tell you they're more secure now."

And here I was thinking you were talking about musical scales xD

Yep. Just hoping the one I have lasts a while, because they really seem to have standardized on that approach.

For obvious reasons, I really, -really- hate that you already have appropriate words for what's going on...

Are your boxes made of elemental sodium or manganese? Because... there's your problem. Or at least, the volatile problem.

Like the bull itself is gooey. The longer you sit on it, the deeper into it you sink.

Mechanical bull challenge but the longer you stay on the more you find yourself sinking into the bull

Honestly, it was a good friend and is the cartoonish-lite version of the whole concept. So from all directions I 'get' the joke and find it amusing. But the little voice in my head that wants to banish death does hurt whenever he sees content reflecting those realities.

That's actually nuts. I get a little sad from even subtle references to mortality... e.g. joke stickers involving my character becoming 'chicken' (aka bird). I know it's a joke, I'm in on the joke, it's funny, but the inner empath in me is still upset.

Is this something I should do to feel less bleak for the future? Or something I should avoid because it will remind me time is a flat loop and we'll get to do this all again in another 30 years?

What significant disease burden looks like. How many kids are under severely misinformed parents. Where a country with an exactly inverted-from-universal-healthcare system leaves its citizens. All this and more care of our duly elected representatives…

A 6 before I reached out to you. Half that now that we've chatted because I still hold you in high esteem :)

Head of the PTA was screaming at me in public on a trip. I had gone to the room to do homework instead of attend a dance. Someone asked what was going on, I told them I'd "let them know after I finished getting my balls chewed off". She demanded I get a week of in-school suspension. I did a day.

My goal is to come up with something so cursed that I invoke your attention thusly. So far my highest score is either monkey-patching tgtd so I could watch The Net over iSCSI (had to disable writes), or poisoning language constants in Python using ctypes to redefine 1 and 0 so bools were inverted.

Proxmox, with a few children VMs/Containers as follows: -Unifi Controller (LXC) -Plex (LXC) -Homebridge (LXC) -OpnSense (QEMU) -TrueNAS (QEMU) And the ability to spin up or down as needed for Homelab stuff (firmware analysis, data parsing, etc). Only thing missing is to do inference training.

Wow, nice! I managed to snag a Kioxia KCD61LUL15T3 for $500 about a year ago, went into my home lab server :D One of the few signs of the future we actually get... 15TB on a single device.

Not just gender, species too. Lets bring in the Singularity the right way, with a big F U to capitalism locks on being your most authentic self with the help of bioengineering. :> Bonus points if you can invoke the cracktro chiptune by rubbing along the sides of your tail.
