Part of what's going on here is a revival of the old idea that LGBTQ+ people are intrinsically untrustworthy. That we lie and have no loyalty. This was explicitly stated in the exec order banning trans military service, and is barely implicit in Gabbard's firing of ~100 trans intelligence officers.
