Clinical trials back then agreed in a minor, but statistically significant effect. The problems are the adverse events like cardiovascular and potential abuse.

Here is a paper, already with some years, that reviews the potential neurotoxicity of MDMA. #PharmSky #ToxSky #MedSky #NeuroSky 🧪 link.springer.com/article/10.1...

MDMA could be helpful in PSTD or other brain disorders. There should be clinical trials not only showing effectiveness but also safety, not only in the short but also in the long term. Caution is required due to the potential neurotoxicity and hepatotoxic actions of MDMA and it’s metabolites. 🧪

Mais uma investigadora de renome a dizer o óbvio! O financiamento da FCT no próxima OE vai baixar e seguramente no ano seguinte será igual. Se já estávamos com um nível baixo de financiamento da FCT, vamos ficar ainda pior!

Thanks for your interest. Bit amphetamine and methylphenidate are used in ADHD. So in controlled doses and settings they can be therapeutically useful. The major problem with these two drugs are cardiovascular, and trials reveal no major adverse effects that could undermine its use.

I understand your concerns regarding the cardiovascular adverse effects, which no doubt should be given attention. The clinical trails did not show that adverse effects under control doses and settings were a problem. They did reveal mixed results, some improved others detailed no improvement.

Thanks for your interest in our work. In fact regarding the brain it makes sense the use of stimulants for this neurological disorders. In particular methylphenidate, that is used to treat ADHD, has been given more attention for stroke or TBI.
