I read Shel Silverstein's "The Missing Piece" to my daughter for the second night in a row, and boy does that story take you on a roller coaster of emotion.

bloomberg: ~90% of deported migrants to el salvador had no criminal record

I'm trying to flash my ZSA keyboard on Linux and it's prompting me to write a file in a folder that doesn't exist in my computer? It keeps telling me that I need to create /etc/udev/rules.d/50-zsa.rules but /etc doesn't exist on my machine. How am I supposed to make the ultimate keyboard?

"The Metamorphosis" but as written by my two year-old son who awoke this morning to find he transformed into the Tasmanian Devil.

"Transform" is an overly strong word here. I don't think playing Adventure: AI edition will cause a seismic improvement in bedside manner. Further than that, though, I'm a bit annoyed when people talk about patient empathy as more a skill and less a value.

Can't wait to use the phrase "Chicken Jockey" incorrectly around a bunch of kids.

People will always say they’re your friend and they support you no matter what but then they’ll say some toxic shit to you like “you have to let go of the cursed amulet, it’s changing who you are” and “don’t let its power corrupt you” all because they want the amulet for themselves

you're gonna wanna see this

it's wild that today ICE was just like, "we're the thought police" unironically

THREAD: Under a new law, thousands of prisoners in Louisiana have been cut off from ever getting a chance at parole. Why? Because an algorithm said so. 1/

Science does not work like this. The only way you can set a timeline is if you have rigged the results in advance.

they finally did it. they invented a machine that can't run doom.

Gonna take this opportunity to say that I can personally deliver no script for as little as 7 million, and I know some other writers who can do it for as little as five million.

meemaw was pretty clear on this topic: she wanted tubes in every existing orifice and even some in newly created orifices. “make sure im thoroughly tubed” she’d say to us every christmas. “make it so not a drop of fluid leaves my body unless it’s through a tube”

Any hand-wringing about autism that doesn't also call for protecting the Department of Education and for providing aid for those austitic Americans who already exist seems more like performative grifting than any genuine concern.

It was fun to see Jacob Wysacki pay homage to the Carolina Crown Hammer Drop in the latest @gamechangershow.bsky.social episode on @dropout.tv. One of the best horn lines in history. youtu.be/4eyC0B7znaU?...

The lesson for universities is you may as well fight back. You'll lose the money either way. The only question is whether you keep your dignity.

The latest Swan Boy is a masterclass in storytelling! And it's free! A free masterclass, I tell you!

How dare he make the tariffs less manly

okay now that you all have gotten a taste of America's rational and predictable new trade policy, everyone who wants to build your new factories here just form an orderly line

Something about seeing anorectal disease and procedures on video instead of in-person makes them exponentially nauseating.

The nostalgia for manufacturing overlooks what truly built economic security: labor power, progressive taxation, and social policy. As fellow @jessicacalarco.bsky.social reminds us, the “good life” wasn’t caused by manufacturing—and it wasn’t accessible to all. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

🧵1/10: What happened when Japan suspended the MMR vaccine and why it's a cautionary tale on vaccine safety decisions, public trust, and the real-world cost of mumps outbreaks. Let’s talk data, autism, and what’s changed since.

Medicare Advantage plans pay so poorly that rural hospitals have had to cut their contracts with them. This affects access for rural patients. We need to either heavily regulate/investigate Advantage plans or cut them entirely. kffhealthnews.org/news/article...

I am currently typing on my new ZSA Moonlander keyboard. Playing with split Joy Cons on my Nintendo Switch was so comfortable and it made me want to split all my controllers and my keyboards. Well, typing on a split, columnar keyboard makes me feel as if I don't know how to type at all.

There were a lot of exciting new medical advancements at #IM2025. I can't wait until 15 years from now when insurance will finally cover them.

I remember watching this scene from Avengers: Endgame in theaters and thinking about how powerful and interesting it was to *start* the biggest blockbuster ever this way. Just an extremely hollow revenge. youtu.be/6_Tu-t7Ops0?...

I'm trying Brave's web browser since Zorin OS decided to make it the default browser for their latest update. Brave feels scummy. There's a lot of Web3/crypto functionality built in and AI is prominently featured. No thanks. I'll probably just keep using Firefox.

Streaming #IM2025 ACP sessions from my hotel room instead of attending in person today because my walking muscles are on strike.

Microsoft is handing out these Copilot mugs at its 50th anniversary event. “Speak your mind.” Pretty ironic given the employee protests
