A brilliant afternoon at Bromley to watch #GTFC deservedly take home all three points. Lovely to meet these fans from Iceland who had come over to watch Town’s Svanthorsson, pictured here with the @dn35.bsky.social crew.

Great to be at @baftaofficial.bsky.social HQ last night for The Creative Shootout, - celebrating the power of creativity and PR in creating a better society. Congratulations to Boldspace who now get to work with Epilepsy Action and break the stigma around epilepsy.

En route to Manchester so watching @cipr.co.uk President Advita Patel’s first President Live Session from the train. A great initiative to update members about what’s happening across the Institute.

Always a pleasure to chat all things #GTFC with the @dn35.bsky.social podcast crew. You can listen to our latest therapy session now: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/d...

An excellent morning meeting CIPR members and exploring the Science Museum’s ‘Versailles’ exhibition. A couple of highlights 🧵

In the FA Youth Cup Grimsby have just equalised against Spurs with the last kick of the game having been 3-1 down after 89 minutes! Now into extra time. Spurs are gonna Spurs, whatever the level #GTFC #Spurs

Great to be at this afternoon’s Socially Mobile graduation in the unusually funky setting of the Camden Town Brewery. This is the 9th cohort the @cipr.co.uk has supported with free membership.

This is exciting. The CIPR STEM Group has organised an exclusive, pre-public viewing of the new ‘Versailles: Science and Splendour’ exhibition at the Science Museum next week. I’ll be there. Sign up to join: bit.ly/40mNf6X

Today is the 15 year anniversary of when 288 tubs of Gü treats were delivered to me at work.

A timely and engaging listen on the complexities of navigating the digital world in the age of misinformation.

NEW: I've obtained internal Meta docs revealing an array of sample posts that are now allowed under new hate speech rules. Examples include calling children "trannies," “Jews are flat out greedier than Christians," and “immigrants are grubby, filthy pieces of shit” theintercept.com/2025/01/09/f...

Looking forward to joining the panel for this timely discussion on the current social media landscape and how organisations can navigate the ethical and business complexities it presents. Thurs 23 Jan 1230-130pm Online Free for CIPR members Sign up > bit.ly/3DKSdTj

Hmm 🤔

Grimsby Town go into 2025 level on points with the team in second and only out of the automatic playoff positions on goal difference. What an end to 2024! Happy new year #GTFC fans

A misty December morning walk in Deal.

Poor performance from Town and too many key players today. Looked off it from minute 1 and only turned up mid way through the second half. Conditions and weather didn’t help but, no excuses, we didn’t deserve anything from today #GTFC

A rooftop bar with a view and fabulous company @katehartley.bsky.social @farzanabaduel.bsky.social @richardbagnall.bsky.social A perfect way to say goodbye to Athens.

Former Digital Comms Chief at Number 10, Peter Heneghan, outlines how 78% of employees are bringing their own AI to work and not telling their bosses. Businesses will need to start investing in organisation-wide AI tools. Safer and smarter. #CCC24

“If your stated values are out of step with your behavior and you’re communicating your values but not what you're doing, then you're going to get distrust.” An incredible presentation by @katehartley.bsky.social on how to navigate a crisis. #CCC24

“We must listen, and we must lean in, and we must find these people on the margins of society and listen to what they're saying.” @farzanabaduel.bsky.social with an excellent presentation on horizon scanning and why PR pros need to avoid falling into echo chambers. #CCC24

“Are you talking to your CFO about stuff that the business cares about? If not, we’re just busy fools!” @richardbagnall.bsky.social with a brilliant presentation at #CCC24 on the importance of measurement in public relations.

At the corporate communications conference in Athens, listening to @jrgerlis.bsky.social unpack - Creating cohesion from manufactured fragmentation. A timely reminder that in a world of disinformation, true impact lies in knitting threads of trust. Masterful insights from @cipr.co.uk policy lead

Good morning, Athens

Brilliant from Town. Battled well and played with a real swagger. Obikwu and Green will rightly get the plaudits but Hume and McEachran were sensational. Exciting times #GTFC

Another solid first half from Town. Two brilliant assists from Green and excellent finishes from Obikwu. Players that not many would have even had in their starting 11 at the start of the season. Green a shoe in for POTS right now #GTFC

A brilliant if slightly pessimistic view on what 2025 holds in store from tonight’s panel discussion hosted by Team Lewis feat; 🎙 Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt 🎙 Tracey Boles, The Times 🎙 Maria Tjader, Schneider Electric 🎙 Adrian Wooldridge, Bloomberg

What a sensational half of football that was from #GTFC. About time we got a bit of luck but fully deserve that score line. Good support from the midfield and wingers in attack, especially JDS who has had his best game in a Town shirt. Let’s keep it up.

Action shot of @korcomms.bsky.social’s first public speech as Taylor Bennett Foundation CEO. Of course, he smashed it. Brilliant evening celebrating the award-winning TBF and @cipr.co.uk Reverse Mentoring Scheme.

Insightful panel on how to diversify climate comms at today’s Make Comms Great Again event. Is climate comms too white and middle class? Despite people of colour being significantly more impacted by the global climate crisis, they make up only 6% of voices represented in the media on the topic.

A Professional Association Research Network (PARN) pulse survey of members found over 71% said their organisation should leave X/Twitter. Doesn’t mean they have or will but that’s a huge majority and gives a clear sense of X’s value and the direction of travel.

“X is a platform that no longer serves the public interest at all, but the particular ideological and financial interests of its owner and his political allies.” The European Federation of Journalists President Maja Sever on their decision to leave X. europeanjournalists.org/blog/2024/11...

When I’m not posting about PR, I’m ranting about Grimsby Town Football Club. If that’s your thing, hear me on the latest DN35 podcast. A deep dive in Town’s recent struggles. #GTFC

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has today announced it has ceased engagement on X. We’ve also launched our new Bluesky channel. This is a big move for a body that represents communications professionals. Find out more and give us a follow.

Is the @grimsbytown.bsky.social account on here genuine? If so, can they post as many updates here as they do on other social platforms. Not desperate to see it this weekend but would be useful for those of us trying to move away from the other place #GTFC

As pleasant a place as Bluesky is, an unspoken and satisfying reason for people to move from X is that, for the first time in a long time, it reminds us that we control technology. We don’t simply have to accept whatever the algorithm serves up #TakeBackControl
