The Phillies have gone through a number of very cold streaks during this year. Then they go through very hot streaks.
Houston was one of those for the batters.
I'm not getting depressed by these ups and downs during the year.

I rewatched Season 3 a few weeks ago to be ready for Season 4, and while it didn't hit the peaks of Season 2, it's much better than I remembered (I particularly liked the Sugar-giving-birth episode).
FWIW.

Mr Sepinwall,
Do show embargoes extend to even acknowledging that you received the season or parts of a season for review?

I think that most Sandman comics are by and large, timeless (there are a few duds here or there, which I will not name here).
I don't particularly worry about the Sandman TV adaptation because the comics are there to be read whenever one wants, regardless of what Mr. Gaiman did or didn't do.

How is Mr. Fetterman's health these days?
(Not a Pennsylvanian, indeed, not even an American. However, I did my Masters Degree at Villanova, consider Philly as my putative U.S. hometown and Pennsylvania as my putative U.S. State).

Abel has been successful against second division clubs, but has had much more trouble against true contenders (Cubs & Mets).
I would hope that the Phillies pitching staff engrains in him the need to practice adjustments with the second division teams, to apply them to the contenders later on.

FTR, that’s not why Panama hats got their name.
When POTUS Teddy Roosevelt visited Panama to see how the Canal’s construction was coming along (1906). President Roosevelt was handed one of those white straw Ecuadorean hats and the US press christened them Panama hats

Personally, I think Rip Van Winkle would be quite disappointed as to the way the world has turned since 2003.
But that's just me, who lived through the end of the Cold War and the super-naive-1990s.

As a rule of thumb, I don't trust George Lucas' decisions from 1981 onwards, so yeah, I'd like to see the original film as it was and compare it to what is out there.

I don't know if there's a definitive history of Crisis, but it becomes kind of a mess after a few issues (it does beg the question as to whether there could have been a great Crisis miniseries, with a better plot).
But you have to admit that the first issue was an all-time classic.

Kind of a pain for you reporters, insofar as you worked to develop working relationships with players and the turnover has meant that they are no longer around.

Presumably because "Quick" or "Quik" don't mean "fast" in non-English languages (and in the 1940s-1950s, English penetration in Europe was surely much less).

I've seen this in the past.
More than the song, those Italian variety show presentations were sensational (I've seen a few other, later numbers by Raffaella Carrá, and damn, were they good).

Kind of conveys the image that the Brewers think Civale is an absolute asshole.

Judge could have the 4th best WAR7 ever for RFers by the end of this year.
And his 2019 season was good, but he should be able to best it next year, so he could be in 3rd and even 2nd place by the end of 2026.

I did a family vacation in March that was full California.
Flew into SF, drove down to Monterrey, then drove all the way to Yosemite (stayed at Yosemite West!), then drove from Yosemite to LA.
California is BIG and damned beautiful.

The Phillies have gone through a rotten part of the season the last 3, 4 years, where I get so ticked off that I start unfollowing all Phillies accounts for a few weeks.
I guess we're there, and I'm going to "mute" them from my consciousness until they get off the floor.

In some ways, that's what happened in 2022.
The magic ran out after 2022 WS Game 2.
Can they pull it off again? It's hard, though not impossible. But it looks like it's going to be a very nerve wracking season.

For context, Darién province holds about 1.65% of Panama’s population.
Furthermore, because of its remoteness, a good chunk of that 1.65% does not have road or footpath contact with the rest of the province or the country (e.g., the Jaqué area).

Frankly, Mick Abel's start against a much more MLB club than the Pirates is way more important than the specific result (yeah, I am also ticked off about the loss).

Mick Abel will have no less than 3 starts to confirm that he is a MLB pitcher.
Let's hope he does.

I've been re-reading Spanish language Asterix comics.
I have some very old French Asterixes that fell into my hands, and it's quite clear that the Spanish editions adapated the sound effects to a Spanish (*) context.
(*) Spanish from Spain. Some of those effects make little sense to Lat Americans

There's a bunch of desperate teams out there.
Surprised that they haven't gotten any to bite.
Ranger Suárez is very much tradeable, provided that Painter (and Abel) pan out, because he is a FA at the end of the year (i.e., if Painter and Abel prove to be the real deal, Suárez is gone)

I'm surprised the Phillies haven't found a trade partner for Walker.
Walker is making $18MM this year and next, and one would think the Phillies should be able to (a) Trade him while eating not that much salary (because of his much better 2025);
(b) Trade him eating a lot, and get a reliever

I only saw Leftovers in the last 2 months, so it's very fresh in my mind.
2 questions: (a) Where there any good stories about filming in NY State vs. filming in Texas and then in Australia?
(b) Is there any element of the Leftovers universe that the actors still wonder about that was not answered?

Heck, look at how Robert Downey Jr. looks today, and he is older than all those guys when they filmed BtS.

The biggest problem that the Nationals face is that this is looking like a very weak draft at the top.
Not entirely unlike the 2016 draft (nothing against Mickey Moniak, et. al., but damn if the top of that draft wasn't weak).
