Oh, so he's admitting they inherited Biden's economy?

They are not his, you twat.

Game 6 was not that. And playoffs are a whole different beast.
My point is the Leafs had a good regular season strategy but they didn’t have an efficient means of adapting

Oh you just happen to write about the same thing I just brought up?
Never mind that it doesn’t matter how long another time controls the puck if they don’t get high danger scoring chances.

It was boring but effective. Not mediocre. Ever heard of sabermetrics?

Matthews did have to go all the way to Germany for his surgery. Maybe he really was in worse shape than he let on.
Doesn’t excuse his performance altogether but, he definitely looked rough out there.
comment in response to

Shut up, no they weren’t.
Mediocre teams don’t win the division.
That’s why it was so frustrating that they lost this round.
comment in response to

That’s kind of my point. The Leafs’ best chance was to not let the series drag out.

Buddy, Game 7 doesn’t happen if Stolarz is in net for game 3.
Hell, maybe Game 5 and 6 don’t happen either. How can we possibly know that they would play just as bad if they didn’t blow that one game?
comment in response to
post
And Game 3? Woll let in some real weak ones. That was a one goal difference.
comment in response to
post
I'm going to say at least half of them.
They were easy shots that Woll let slip right on through. I also think Stolarz could have made outlet passes that would result in a few scoring chances.
Plus, it ultimately doesn't matter how much they scored in Games 5 and 7. Game 3 was the big one.
comment in response to
post
And you really don't think that Stolarz could have stopped most of those goals?
Woll let it a lot of soft ones there. And then sometimes, weak goals lead to collapse in morale, which lead to more defensive breakdowns, etc.

But he came through more often than not.

“The rapes“ is an interesting way of describing it because we don’t see any rape whatsoever. There is definitely a strong implication, but that does not translate to anything bad in terms of storytelling.
comment in response to
post
Yeah, but that’s not a plot device. That’s a framing device. That’s not at all what we were talking about.
comment in response to
post
As for the metaphor, if thats your definition of a plot device, I really don’t see the problem. It’s not gratuitous, nor is it confusing. It makes sense that she’d want to escape the experience.

“There's not a single scene of rape onscreen.“
So yea, I did say that.
comment in response to

Rape isn’t used to advance the story. Not visually, anyway. You’re trying to make the movie look bad where it doesn’t.
comment in response to
post
No, you are deliberately twisting my words. I said there was no rape scene. Rape isn’t used a “plot device”. It’s mentioned, sure. But the driving factor is the complete and utter lack of control.
comment in response to
post
I never dismissed it. I simply pointed out how it was never explicitly shown onscreen.

These days, fans seem to use edgy as a substitute for “grim” and “dark”.

That’s why I enjoyed it. It was very well structured.

And I'm just saying, it sounds very edgy.

Why the fuck would we be in jail?
What did you do, bruh?

You realize we're living in a very different political climate, right?
Not fair of you to make such a childish generalization.
Especially since some great movies have been backed by the US Army.

So, by definition, that statement is false.

Not always.

Great sign of Superman not realizing he can't save everyone, thereby defeating the whole purpose of his character?
Who would have thought?
comment in response to

What "rape plot device"? There's not a single scene of rape onscreen. It's not like there's anything overtly sexual. Sure, the outfits are skimpy, it's no worse than what James Cameron did with True Lies.

I'd argue he understood it way better than Damien Lindelof.

Fuck him and his false pity.
The Leafs deserve every moment.

They didn't look happy.
comment in response to

At this point, the Leafs should aim to hurt as many of these players as possible.

Shorter maybe.
But uglier. Way uglier.

It's like reliving the same fucking nightmare, year after year.
The details change, but the story is always the same.

Ok. We need an inverse of Game 7 from 2013.
The universe works in mysterious ways.

That’s not too long ago.
I’m concerned by the fact that the last time the Leafs won game 7 in any round was in 2004.
