Yes it really is that dumb, or almost - using trade deficits as tariffs to try to even out the flow of $ between countries based on current trade deficit. The huge tariffs calculated wouldn’t even out the $. They’d completely stymie trade between the countries & result in sharp rises in inflation.

1.
Mike Johnson looked America in the eye and swore MAGA wouldn’t touch Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. A lie so bold it deserves an award. Then Gov. JB Pritzker stepped up with a blowtorch: Congress just passed a budget slashing $880 BILLION from Medicaid. Don’t get mad—get LOUD.

Of course Trump wouldn’t work to build on the 1/15 ceasefire. That was Biden’s doing not his, and therefore it’s “no good”. Besides he wants to make Gaza the “riviera of the east”. Shouldn’t pro-Palestinian protestors be protesting this guy?

Denouncing antisemitic violence? The arsonist has been invited to join the DOJ. 🤦🏼♂️ </s>

The answer is "yes".

This is going to just keep happening and the networks can't capitulate - it's a slippery slope once you head down it, and the courts have to stand up for the 1st Amendment. This should be a no-brainer.

Right-wing terrorist who attacked Governor Shapiro regularly posting on social media about harm to Biden supporters & guns, but right-wing terror has not been a priority for FBI & DOJ for decades, despite many deadly attacks bsky.app/profile/keit...

Yep, fearmongering and othering is not the path to prosperity. We are headed backward both in terms of justice and prosperity. We're just becoming a paranoid idiotic country, wiping awy any exceptionalism we might have had.

And after all, haven't they got the memo? "Empathy is the fundamental weakness of western civilization" - Elon Musk

"Kim [Jong Il] shot 38 under, including 11 holes-in-one, at the 7,700-yard championship course at Pyongyang in the VERY FIRST golf round of his life, according to North Korean state media."

The RW propaganda machine can spin any narrative out of whole cloth & push it down to the MAGA base, & legacy media tags halfway along. So Trump can never lose. E.g: "The Biden economy is awful. NYT - not sure if the Biden economy is awful but people seem to think it is, & perception is what counts!

Ackman has a future in North Korean state media, if this whole failing upward white privileged billionaire sycophant thing doesn’t work out. He’s gonna reverse engineer *any* Trump failure as genius.

If only they could find the guy who started the trade war with China that’s killing their business 🤔. It’s beginning to look like Trump could completely destroy our country but still win elections ‘cause our country’s too dumb to recognize that he’s responsible, with the aid of RW media gaslighting.

What if there was a US law that allowed a simple majority (and not 2/3) to remove someone from office? In the meantime let’s excoriate pols for not having magical powers that they do not have so that they continue to lose elections. 👍🏼

Indoctrination / news deserts are 2 things that can be tackled. There needs to be some kind of counter to the slew of propaganda these folks are being fed. The left needs a moonshot sort of counterpropaganda initiative. It won't be fixed in a day but gotta start working on it and thinking big.

And MAGA appeases this murderous dictator while at the same time claiming moral religious superiority. It’s madness.

And claim that the *real* suppressors of free speech are on the left, because a university (not the government) canceled a Nazi speech on campus one time.

If it wasn't for the "assassinate Trump" part, I think he'd be offered a cabinet position.

Wow, someone is such an extreme Nazi that he wants to assassinate Trump??

I would add Elon. He's decimated USAID and called its employees "criminals". This will result in deaths into the 7 figures and he doesn't care because he thinks we should be spending our resources on trying to colonizie Mars instead. He's a straight-up sociopath.

Forget "Term III". Let's have it now. Winner is president the next day.

That's what he means when he says "the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy" or "the woke mind virus is destroying humanity". Let people die. Don't *worry* about anyone else's troubles, just focus on getting to Mars.

Worse thing about Elon is his bat-shit crazy philosophy. He believes that we must prioritize colonizing Mars over everything else. That means don't waste time / resources on helping populations at risk (decimation of USAID), climate change, disease control (let the weak die), etc. He's a sociopath.

Yeah, it's ludicrous. And Elon of course gets to define which jobs are "productive" and which jobs are not. Keeping our food and drugs safe through some kind of expertise is "low or negative productivity" but working in a coal mine is high productivity? 🤦🏼♂️
