There are drugs to make them thin & sexually active, people can stick hair on their ageing scalps. Their sons are not dying in barbed wire strewn battlefields, their daughters are not dying in childbirth or burying infants snatched by disease. They can get in planes & fly to where it’s sunny.

From 2025 Q1 forward, the BoE is forecasting quarterly GDP will be £26.9bn higher by 2027Q4, compared with a growth forecast of £25.1bn over the same period back in November Over the year ahead the forcast growth is down a bit - from £10.5bn to £9.5bn - but it is subsequently more than made up

All of the disappointment happened in 2024, though, so this is in no way a forecast. The forward looking bit of the BoE's actual forecast is stronger than it was in November as this levels chart we put on the FT's Monetary Policy Radar shows on.ft.com/3CJ1paG

Women are encouraged by pop feminism, self help books and bullshit leadership courses to internalise the ways that they aren’t taken seriously in the workplace and to label that as imposter syndrome that they have to overcome. It puts all the blame on women as individuals. It’s anti-solidarity.

Some tech gurus are saying AI has already plateaued. It’s scraped up all the useable data on the planet, and any new data now could be tainted with AI, so is unreliable. And more and more powerful processors are only yielding incremental improvements, so it’s not getting smarter. It’s a scam.

That bill, Starmer says, has provisions to protect kids by registering those not in school. Starmer: "What I don't understand is why anybody would vote today again [the bill]. It will kill the bill. it will stop those provisions for children at risk today. I implore them: vote for the bill."
