this is the level of funding where all the possibilities for American politics that have been described as hyperbolic over the past decades - the comparisons to Nazi Germany and other nightmares of the 20th century - become logistically possible and politically likely

I’m not a “ban all fireworks because dogs” guy but this is not a night when people should be shooting off fireworks and yet here we are

Sounds like an allegation of election fraud

credit where credit is due, and I can't believe I'm saying it but glad I get to: thank you Ritchie Torres.

new "taco trucks on every street corner" just dropped

Wrote for The Small Bow about Big Jim, my friend from the bar. www.thesmallbow.com/p/the-sky-is...

Funny line in this one -- "The real estate hysteria is an early sign of just how hard Mamdani will have to work to win over New York’s economic establishment" -- why would he have to win them over?? The whole point is they can get fucked

this is some late 80s/early 90s, haven't won shit in 15 years, old (not old old) Yankee Stadium, hot Saturday afternoon bleachers energy. I like it

I really like Brad Lander but in half the pictures I've seen of him this week he looks like Tim Robinson doing some insane bit and it's very distracting

I understand everyone's frustration with the oversaturation of Mamdani coverage given that it's a local mayor race but the reason NYC has had such shitty mayors over the years is because of Dem machine capture by powerful financial interests — if that can be broken in NYC it can be broken elsewhere

Food deserts exist because private actors don't see opportunities for profit in them; one of the literal purposes of government in a mixed economy is to correct for the failures of the market to do things like provide accessible, affordable food.

I don’t think the “make the racists show their ass” theory works on a national level because a voting majority of our country (with racist systems like the Senate built in) are racist, but on a local level like NYC it seems like a very positive outcome, in addition to the election victory

Isn’t Ingraham an actual Gen Xer?

A Jewish guy spouting Great Replacement bile about an Italian guy losing an election is really all you need to know about how Whiteness works in this fucked up country of ours

Any excuse to repost an all-time Bluesky banger

Suns going to run a 3-2 zone with 3 SGs and 2 Cs?

This is probably true in this case, because Cuomo was such a terrible choice from the Democratic Establishment, but it doesn’t say anything about the left/liberal distinction If he were NOT a sexual predator who resigned in disgrace for harassment, liberals would have likely carried him to victory!
