Very sad news. Striking and provocative paintings. Had the pleasure of experiencing his work up close during our stays in Le Manoir and in the stunning suite bearing his name.

Today the Royal Society will meet to discuss “Fellows’ behaviour”. Without doubt the fellow they will primarily be discussing is Elon Musk. The behaviour may range from his public dissemination of unfounded conspiracy theories to his attacks on the science 🧵 1/38

First pint outside for 2025. Hopefully spring is finally here. Genesis Stout a lovely alternative to Guinness brewed in Bedford.

Excellent.

Russia seems pretty pleased with what it witnessed in the Oval Office today.

NHS Dentists don’t go on strike we just quietly shift the balance of our work. With continually rising costs, & huge professional fees the only option is to shift business focus towards private care. Increased litigation risk & treatment complexities adds to the move away from NHS dentistry.

NEW The president who jokes about being a king How different is Trump’s view of political and legal power from absolute kingship? By me, at @prospectmagazine.co.uk www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/law/th...

Starmer confirming the UK is willing to put boots on the ground in Ukraine. An immense moment. Hard to overstate how important this is or how impressive it is that he's done it.

Time to step up Co-op, Morrisons, Iceland and Asda. We must expect at the very least reasonable care in life & as atraumatic death for the creatures that die for us. Eyestalk ablation has totally changed my view on eating prawns.

"The UK is a nation of animal lovers and so its people need a national animal to love; it's been my privilege to fill that furry brief for 14 years and counting." #Larryversary

Refreshingly candid re #failure of #dental #policy www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... - also look at the nation's health, the latest survey of #children is out, twice as likely to have decay in most disadvantaged areas = #inequalities #newthinking www.gov.uk/government/s...

Analysis from my team @thebda.bsky.social shows dentists and dental practices are subsidising loss-making NHS treatments to the tune of over £300m per year www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

NHS dentistry has ceased to exist for millions. A toxic mix of austerity and failed contracts has fuelled this crisis. We now have health professionals delivering NHS care at a loss. Why the Treasury is the No.1 barrier to saving this service. 👇 www.bda.org/news-and-opi...

Finally NHS leaders acknowledge their so called “dental recovery plan”England, has totally failed. The profession gave simple, immediate solutions and were ignored for eye catching headlines - patients left with even less access to much needed care. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

On International Day of Women & Girls in Science let’s remember some pioneering women in dentistry. Studying the sciences is a gateway into medicine and dentistry, and was personally my route to entering a great profession with incredible life opportunities. dentistry.co.uk/2024/07/17/f...

Delighted to see our favourite UK restaurants retaining their stars. Congratulations to Artichoke, Adams & of course the fantastic Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons team. guide.michelin.com/gb/en/articl... #Michelin

Always take a few moments when opening a bottle of wine to think back and reflect on the year it was bottled. So 2018….the year my consulting company was formed & Brexit ruled the UK airwaves. (Hoping my cooking is up to scratch tonight).

Congratulations to new GDPC chair @shivparbary.bsky.social , Vice Chairs Joe Hendron and Vijay Sudra, and his Exec team Agi Tarnowski, Mark Green, Charlie Daniels & Don McGrath (who missed the pics!)

Bitter sweet day @thebda.bsky.social GDPC meeting. Great to meet up with colleagues old & new. Delighted to join Associates Subcommittee & Pensions Committee but so very sad to leave BDA HQ 64 Wimpole Street - the home of the BDA for so many years. Most likely our last meeting there.

Today we have the first meeting of newly elected General Dental Practice Committee @thebda.bsky.social The dental profession repeatedly invest time & effort, share our insights - to make NHS Dentistry work. Successive governments have failed to act. We all hoped this time it would be different.

It’s a message we keep hearing: tweaks at the margins will not save NHS dentistry. @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social rightly noted this service is at death’s door. But we are yet to see changes capable of resuscitating the patient. 👉 www.bda.org/news-and-opi...

As @thebda.bsky.social pointed out this week HM Treasury appear to be u-turning on the Non-Dom squeeze. £125m was pledged to pay for: 🪥Supervised toothbrushing in schools 🦷700,000 urgent appointments 👩‍⚕️Incentives for dentists in high-needs areas Urgent clarity needed. We must save NHS dentistry
