The Ukrainian government has a list of places where you can donate to the war effort here. I personally just donated $100: war.ukraine.ua/donate/ Slava Ukraini.

Feeling bad tonight? Donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are the only real security guarantee for all of us.

It is not Zelensky and Ukraine that should be thanking the West. It is the West that should be thanking Zelensky and Ukraine.

What is unfolding for the UK is a hard lesson in what 'sovereignty' really means. And it's nothing to do with EU Directives about widgets (which, anyway, we largely still comply with).

This, 100%. We're in a really difficult situation, and what might feel like a satisfying way of responding to Trump isn't an indulgence Starmer can engage in. Diplomacy exists for a reason, and whilst it's open to Starmer (as it wasn't to Zelensky) we have to use it to salvage what can be salvaged.

Word of the day is ‘huff-snuff’ (16th century): a hectoring bully or braggart.

Please spread the word @orkneylibrary.bsky.social @theorkneynews.bsky.social @orkneycom.bsky.social Thanks!

No fooling! If you're in #Kirkwall on 1st April, come along to our reading of #poetry composed in and inspired by #Orkney and #Shetland. 7.30 pm in the St Magnus Centre, and free. A @ragnasislands.bsky.social event.

I've distributed 2000 copies of The Historic Stockton Coloring Book to students since I received the Stockton Arts Grant for the project from Stockton Arts Commission last year. I translated the text into more than 40 languages so that Stockton's beautifully diverse population can all take part.

Our website is still down - KU-IT are working on it. In the mean time you can use this development site for your Old Norse lexicographic needs: onp.ku.dk/gefin/q.php?...

This is really interesting and brings back memories of writing a paper on the bones of St Magnús, together with Theya Molleson: www.academia.edu/568493/The_D...

news.stv.tv/highlands-is... The box was recovered in March 1919 during renovation work at St Magnus Cathedral. It contained human bones, with the skull showing clear signs of injury. This led to the remains being heralded as that of Saint Magnus, murdered at Easter in 1116, 1117 or 1118.

Delighted to be heading back to the magic isle alongside Jonnie in these permanent roles - a very exciting few years coming up, and can’t wait to be able to welcome visitors back to a brand new Obs!

Vague memory of Boris's bus???

If you still believe, after today‘s UN resolution, that Trump will change his mind, just as soon as the Europeans finally spend more on defence, I can‘t help you. Of course Europe must spend more on defence. But not as a gesture to please Trump. To protect ourselves & stand on our own 2 feet.

Reading this today, by the excellent @jenstout.bsky.social

✅🇺🇳🇺🇦 The UN General Assembly supported the resolution initiated by Ukraine and Europe. 93 countries voted for the draft resolution, 18 against, 65 abstained. Russia and the United States called for not voting for it.

🏺📚 Delighted to see several brilliant authors I know on this list, and especially Eleanor Barraclough's #EmbersOfTheHands, a wonderful search for 'little lives' in the Viking world through archaeology & history #BookSky

Happy St Cyril’s Day! C9th inventor of the Glagolitic alphabet

If you’re struggling to write a poem for a loved one for Valentine’s Day, take heart: even the great poets had to start somewhere.
