Mandelson plan is vile and makes us complicit in fascism.

Trump is on the brink of betraying Ukraine and the UK. Britain must lead in Europe by increasing defence spending immediately and all political parties should get round the table to make that happen. I fear what happens if we don't take this step.

The UK's anti-protest laws pre-legitimise far right authoritarianism. Labour must repeal them now. My column today. www.theguardian.com/global/comme...

Calling Zelensky a “Dictator” must be where the line is drawn. It is my sincere hope that the whole political spectrum in the United Kingdom will speak with one voice in opposition to Trump’s lies.

Mist over Crummock Water

Zelensky is very brave to draw a line in the sand and call out Trump’s comments to the US press yesterday, which largely parroted Russian talking points and disinformation about the war, sprinkled with his usual BS hyperbole. History will judge Zelensky the hero of our times, and Trump the villain.

Donald Trump is the President of the United States and the Spokesperson for Vladimir Putin. Only we in the UK and Europe will protect Ukraine.

As the US sits around the table with Lavrov (sanctioned by the Biden) the Russian attacks on civilians in Kyiv haven’t stopped. The Trump administration didn’t even get a cessation in drone attacks in exchange for the PR coup of talks and bringing the regime in from the cold.

Some of the most shameful comments uttered by a president in my lifetime. Trump is siding with the aggressor, blaming the victim. In the Kremlin they must be jumping for joy. I’d like to hope Republicans, who used to believe in resisting tyranny, would disavow the things Trump is saying & doing.

Are we going to stand by and let this happen?

Jeez. Trump actually just said it. He actually just said that Ukraine shouldn't have started this war! He’s actually siding with a crazed, murderous dictator

"This was not peace talks nor a negotiation, but a business meeting," risk analyst @samdebendern.bsky.social says. "A business meeting between the representatives of two bosses, who want to decide how best to share the spoils of war. That is really what we're seeing here." ~AA

Feels like not much has changed since the 1850s … ?

I’m not sure you can spend the last decade painting anyone who still supports membership of a trading partnership as a traitor then pivot to “we must give the authoritarian invader of Europe everything he wants” and not expect a teensy bit of Quisling chat back, if I’m honest.

It is INSANE that journalists are writing little sketches about Trump’s threats towards Canada. Have you lost your minds? Is this all just a bit of fun? It reveals a complete lack of understanding of how America is now acting towards longstanding allies.

Your periodic reminder that these people think of women as disposable objects.

The bullies have officially overtaken the schoolyard. They smash up whatever stands in their way, all while trying to make us believe that they are representing "conservative“ (what exactly are they preserving?) or "liberal“ (who exactly is allowed to be free here?) values.

Disgusting, pathetic, and contemptible. People like Gove, O'Brien, and Bowman are nothing but the aspiring satraps of a foreign oligarchy. They should have no place in British public life.

I just entered a google search about a Bach piece, but made a typo so it asked about the Toccata in W minor. The AI summary, with the misplaced confidence of a DOGE kid, told me that the W minor Toccata was very challenging to play, even for an advanced pianist and went on to describe how. Really?!

Has anyone outside of US thought about tax information exchange? Is it safe to exchange with IRS in this climate?

Happy Flag Day!

I wonder if JD Vance is planning to lecture his boss’s buddy Vladimir Putin on democracy and free speech. 🤔

Put the USA on notice of expulsion from NATO. Get on the front foot.
